The invention relates to a turning chisel for the machining of workpieces, with a shank and a cutting head which has a hard metal plate.
There are already turning tools, also called turning tools, known. which have a hard metal cutting edge firmly attached to a shaft. The hard metal plate is usually attached to a steel shaft by brazing.
If the tool has to be ground due to wear and tear on the cutting edge formed from the hard metal plate, the entire hard metal plate and the underlying part of the turning tool are gradually used up, after which it is necessary to replace the entire turning tool.
The invention is based on the object of avoiding the disadvantages above he wanten.
According to the invention, this is achieved in that the cutting head is designed as an insert piece which can be displaced on or in the shaft by means of a guide and fastened to the shaft by means of fastening means.
This means that only the cutting head has to be moved forward before grinding, so that only the cutting head body with the hard metal plate is reduced in size during the grinding operation, but not the shaft.
If the hard metal plate is used up, only the cutting head is thrown away, but the shaft can be used with a new cutting head as required.
The shank of the turning tool is preferably made of hardened steel. This has the advantage that the shaft is practically not subject to wear.
An exemplary embodiment of the invention is described in more detail below with reference to the accompanying drawing. It shows:
1 is a perspective view of a turning tool with an insert,
2 shows another view, the underside of the turning tool with the fastening screw for the insert being also visible,
3 shows a view from above of the insert with the hard metal plate.
The turning tool shown in FIGS. 1 and 2 has a shank 1 which advantageously consists of tempered steel and has an extension 2 running in a wedge shape at the front. which the insert 5 receives. The insert 5 is guided in a groove which has an elongated hole 4 at the bottom.
The insert 5 advantageously has a body made of steel. It is prismatic in its basic shape and ends in a wedge shape at one end 10. The body carries the hard metal plate 7 on a support surface 8, which is connected, for example, to this support surface 8 by soldering. The insert 5 has a threaded hole 6 on the rear part.
The insert 5 expediently has the same width as the groove 3 so that it can be pushed into it with practically no play. The wedge-shaped end 10 of the insert 5 then essentially covers the wedge-shaped end 12 of the extension 2 of the shaft 1. The threaded bore 6 of the insert 5 comes to stand above the elongated hole 4. The insert 5 can be displaced in the groove 3 in the direction of the elongated hole 4. It can therefore. depending on the degree of wear and tear of the hard metal plate 7. moved forward and fastened again with a screw 9.
It would also be possible to provide 5 grooves as a guide at the bottom of the insert, which grooves are arranged in corresponding grooves on the shaft. It is also possible. to give the insert or the shaft a different shape depending on the intended use of the steel.
