Floor drain

The innovation relates to a floor drain for wet rooms, the drain housing of which is equipped with a vertical drain outlet.

Floor drains usually have an odor trap and a dirt trap. The trap is designed as a bell that covers the drain connection that extends into the housing as a standpipe. In order to make the drain compact, it has already been suggested (DE-GM 74 25 777) to make the trap as one piece with the odor trap bell. To empty the dirt trap, the assembly is lifted out. This also makes the drain line accessible for cleaning purposes.

If the purpose of the drain is to completely empty and clean the drain housing, then the sturdy standpipe counteracts this, which stores the odor-trapping water. The task of eliminating this disadvantage is solved by the new design in that the construction unit has a standpipe that can be detachably inserted into the drain connection. This is overlapped by the odor trap bell. Now the standpipe is pulled together with the odor trap bell so that the odor-trapping water can flow away and the drain housing can be cleaned. One advantage of this new design is that the floor drain is also available without an odor trap and can even be retrofitted with an odor trap later. The construction unit is suitable for all types of drain. That is, both those made of plastic and those made of cast iron or stainless steel.

The figures show three preferred embodiments of the innovation in (partial) section (Fig. 1, Fig. 2) and in plan view (Fig. 3).

Of the floor drain housing 1, only the transition from the housing base 2 to the drain connection 3 is shown. This is where the component 4 is inserted, which consists of a standpipe 5, a odor trap bell 6 and a snuff trap chamber 7. The odor trap bell 6 and the standpipe 5 are connected to one another via radial ribs 8.
