X Wasserstoff bedeuten, nitrierende Mittel einwirken läßt.
liefert (vgl. Liebigs Annalen der Chemie, Bd.53, S.297).Process for the preparation of substituted aryl vinyl sulfones Mononitroaryl vinyl sulfones
are not yet known. It has now been found that mononitroarylvinylsulfones
in good to very good yield and high purity in a technically simple manner
can be obtained if one uses aryl vinyl sulfones of the general formula CHX = CX-S02-R,
wherein R is an aromatic radical, both X are hydrogen or one X is halogen and the other
X signify hydrogen, allows nitrating agents to act. The smooth formation in the
The nucleus of nitrated aryl vinyl sulfones is surprising because, for example, the nitration
of vinylbenzene not vinyl nitrobenzene, but mainly extensive degradation products
supplies (see Liebig's Annalen der Chemie, Vol. 53, p. 297).
Example z 252 parts by weight of phenyl vinyl sulfone are stirred into 750 parts by volume of zoo% sulfuric acid at 5 to 10 ° and dissolved. A nitrating acid composed of 95 parts by weight of 100% strength nitric acid and 220 parts by weight of concentrated sulfuric acid is then allowed to flow in slowly at the same temperature. After stirring for a short time, the reaction mixture is poured onto ice water, and the almost colorless compound which has separated out is filtered off with suction and washed neutral with water. The nitrophenyl vinyl sulfone of the probable formula obtained in a yield of 304 parts by weight melts after dissolving from methanol at 108 to 109 ° and is identical to the nitrophenyl sulfone obtained according to example i of patent 875 toi.

The crude product obtained in a yield of 21 parts by weight and with a high degree of purity melts at 60 to 61 ° and after redissolving from methanol at 61 °. The nitrotolyl vinyl sulfone has the likely formula and is identical to the nitrotolyl vinyl sulfone obtained according to Example 2 of Patent 875 toi.
