A process for the preparation of substituted Arylvinylsulionen object of the patent 842 198 a process for the production 'of vinylsulfones, which consists in that ß-Oxyäthylalkyl- or -ärvlsulfone of the general formula HO-CH, -CH.-S0, -R, wherein R denotes an aliphatic or aromatic radical, converted into their sulfuric acid esters by reaction with concentrated or anhydrous sulfuric acid in the presence or absence of inert organic solvents and these are treated with alkalis Formula CH2 = CH - S02-R-N02, in which R is an aromatic radical, can also be obtained in high purity and good to very good yield if you act on t mol of ß-oxyethylaryl sulfones in sulfuric acid solution r mol nitric acid leaves and the resulting sulfuric acid ester of the ß-Oxäthvlnitroar_vlsulfone then with alkali en treated. The. smooth and: uniform formation in the core of nitrated aryl vinyl sulfones could not be foreseen. On the contrary, it was to be expected that the nitric acid would first convert the oxy group of the oxyethylarylsulfones into its nitric acid esters and therefore nuclear nitration would not occur.
Die-M6nonitröarylvinylsulfone sind Zwischenverbindungen-für die Herstellung
von Farbstoffen, Polymerisationsprodukten und Textilhilfsmitteln. The —nonitroarylvinylsulfones are intermediate compounds — for the production
of dyes, polymerisation products and textile auxiliaries.
Beispiel i -186 Gewichtsteile ß-Oxyäthyl-phenyl-sulfon wer-. den bei
6o bis 70° in etwa 300 Raumteile ioo%iger Schwefelsäure eingerührt. Man rührt etwa
Man arbeitet
Example i -186 parts by weight of ß-oxyethyl-phenyl-sulfone are. stirred into about 300 parts by volume of 100% sulfuric acid at 6o to 70 °. The mixture is stirred for about 1 hour at the same temperature, cooled to 0 ° to 10 ° and a nitrating acid of 63 parts by weight of 100% nitric acid is slowly added. 147 parts by weight of concentrated sulfuric acid are added. The mixture is stirred for about 1 hour and the reaction mixture is poured onto ice water. The clear solution is made slightly alkaline with sodium hydroxide solution at room temperature, filtered off with suction and the filter material is washed out with water. The nitrophenyl vinyl sulfone of the probable formula obtained in 198 parts by weight yield melts at 108 to 109 ° after dissolving from methanol. The nitration can instead of 0 to 1o ° also at higher temperatures, - z. B: at 6o to 70 °, can be carried out with equally good success. "Example e 40 parts by weight of '-β-OXyäthyl- (4-methylphenyI) -sulfon are stirred at 6o to 70 ° in 8o parts by volume of 100% sulfuric acid and mixed with a' nitrating acid from 12.6 parts by weight of 100% nitric acid and ': 29.4 parts by weight of concentrated sulfuric acid are nitrated at 0 ° to 5 ° C. The procedure is as in Example i and the nitrotolyl-vinyl-sulfone of the probable formula is obtained after redissolving from methanol at 61 ° in a yield of 35 parts by weight.

Example 3 24 parts by weight of B-oxyethyl (2-naphthyl) sulfone
at 3o to 4o ° in 5o parts by volume 96% sulfuric acid entered and several hours
stirred at the same temperature. Now a nitrating acid drips at 0 to 5 °
from 6.3 parts by weight of 100% strength nitric acid and 14.7 parts by weight of concentrated
Sulfuric acid added. The mixture is stirred for a few more hours, and -and is added to ice-water
works like in example i. The alkaline treated nitration product represents
a mixture of different Mo nonitronaphthyl vinyl sulfones with a nitrogen content
of 5.3 "/ & (calc. for mononitro-2-naphthyl-vinylsulfone N = 5.3%). The yield
is 2o parts by weight.
