Warning lights are used in particular in road traffic to visually secure construction sites on roads and motorways. These lights consist of a separate internal optic with a light source, which is usually powered by a dry battery, and a twilight switch switches the light off during the day. The lights are usually mounted on beacons that serve to mark construction or cordoned-off areas. According to new regulations (TL Baken 1987), the beacons with the lights must be designed in such a way that a car driving into the beacon at 80 km/h does not destroy the beacon to the extent that individual parts of the beacon or the light come loose and endanger the driver or other cars. This requires that the battery supplying the light is housed separately from the light in the base of the beacon. The light itself must be designed to meet these requirements, it must not come loose from the beacon, and the optic must be firmly connected to the connecting part of the beacon that supports it.

Conventional lights are usually made up of several parts, e.g. a central part is the connection to the beacon and is placed on top of it, the lamp holder with the electronics and the switch. The optical unit is pushed onto this - inner - unit from above and locked.

This separation of the lamp is necessary because the light source - preferably a 1/2 lamp - must be easily replaceable as it wears out. According to the principle known from the German, only the optics need to be loosened and removed to change the lamp.

This conventional, multi-piece construction principle with the relatively loose optical unit has the disadvantage that the connection between the two parts is not strong enough to withstand the enormous stress caused by the approaching car, with the result that the heavier optical unit comes loose and thus represents a potential danger. The aim of the invention is to design the heavy main parts of the light preferably in one piece and to arrange the lamp holder in such a way that the bulb can be changed without having to separate the light. According to the invention, the light consists of the optical part, which is formed by a central ring-shaped support into which light-bundling fresnel discs are inserted on one or both sides, with a holder preferably attached in one piece to the lower part of the central support, which can be plugged onto beacon tubes, for example, but which can also be designed for attachment to another shut-off device. This unit has the highest possible mechanical strength due to its preferably one-piece, joint-free and compact design.
