So far it has been common practice to use wire brushes with the otherwise in
devices commonly used in the brush industry, such as bank and pinking scissors,
to prune. These facilities are for brass wires, soft Bessem steel wires
and can also be used for thin cast steel wires. For trimming brushes
made of cast steel wires with breaking strengths of zoo kg / mm2 and more are all scouring devices,
those who work with steel knives are only of limited use, especially when it is
If the wire is more than 0.25 mm thick.
The device according to the invention for trimming wire brushes
is based on the use of so-called cut-off wheels, as used in the metal industry
are used for cutting hard steels. In the drawing is the mode of operation
the device shown schematically in front and side views.
The cutting wheel b is attached to a shaft a. Resin-bonded cutting discs are best. Right in front of the cut-off wheel b is a comb c, the teeth of which protrude slightly beyond the cutting edge of the cut-off wheel. The wire brush d to be cut, a round brush in the drawing, is guided against the cutting edge of the rotating cutting disc in such a way that the comb prevents the individual brush wires from dodging the grinding pressure of the cutting disc, so that the desired brush shape can be cut. Very short wire brushes can be cut without the comb c, since the short wire brushes are sufficiently stiff so that they do not move in front of the cut-off wheel. Narrow round brushes can e.g. B. can also be made stiff by placing side pressure plates, the diameter of which corresponds almost to the finished size of the round brush. However, this mode of operation has the disadvantage that the filament wires of the brushes glow because the wind generated by the cutting disc cannot cool the filament wires that are firmly pressed together by the pressure plate. When using the comb in front of the cut-off wheel, the individual brush wires hardly turn blue, as the wind generated by the cut-off wheel can brush and cool the loosely standing trimming wires. On the other hand, the working conditions can be chosen so that the wire tips come to glow and are hardened by the cutting wheel wind. A round brush with a diameter of 25o mm and a wire thickness of 0.35 mm can with the device described above in about 3 to q. Minutes can be cut cleanly round, the costs for the drive power of the cutting disc and the wear and tear of the same are very low.
z. B. Heizkesselbürsten auch kantig geschnitten werden.Of course, with the device according to the invention
z. B. Boiler brushes can also be cut angular.
