B. aus Polyvinylchlorid, vinylchloridhaltigen Mischpolymerisaten, oder solchen aus überwiegenden Mengen Styrol und Butadien sind jedoch gegen diese handelsüblichen Fußbodenpflegemittel empfindlich, sei es, daß das in ihnen enthaltene Lösungsmittel den in den Fußbodenbelagstoffen enthaltenen Weichmacher im Laufe der Zeit herauslöst, wodurch ein allmähliches Verspröden eintreten kann, sei es, daß die Lösungsmittel das Polymerisat selbst anquellen, wodurch die Oberfläche klebrig wird. Es wurde nun gefunden, daß festes Polyäthylenoxyd, gegebenenfalls in Mischung mit mehrwertigen Alkoholen, z. B. Äthylenglykol, Diäthylenglykol, Triäthylenglykol, ein hervorragendes Pflegemittel für Fußböden aus polymerisierten Kunststoffen darstellt, das die geschilderten Nachteile nicht aufweist. Derartige Fußbodenpflegemittel besitzen eine ausgezeichnete reinigende Wirkung, erzeugen einen schönen Hochglanz und haben weiterhin den Vorteil, in jedem Verhältnis mit Wasser mischbar zu sein.
