Description

The invention relates to a snail fence with a polygonal layout, in particular for protecting a garden bed.

So-called snail fences have also been developed by many small and mouse gardeners, whereby the basis of these fences is generally a wooden frame, which is provided along one edge with glass powder or other quartzitic materials embedded in an adhesive mass.

Salts, soot or similar, which stimulate the liquid secretion of the pests and are scattered along the border of the bed, are also known as "shrike repellents" *

In addition, toxic substances are also used against snails.

The first described agents have the disadvantage that they do not injure the snails themselves to the extent that they ultimately die, while the snail poisons that are usually spread can be a danger to children playing and pets.

This approach also cannot rule out damage to the surrounding environment.

Even the arrangement of abrasive granular materials along the upper edge of the fence does not completely prevent the intrusion into the bed,

because rain, etc. often disrupt the drawn "border line".

Furthermore, the fact that these fences are tied to an almost identical bed size and shape is impractical.

Any adjustments of this kind will incur greater costs than creating a new frame.

Taking this into account, it is the task of this invention to name a snail fence of the type described at the beginning, the floor plan of which is approximately adapted to the size and shape of the bed, and the toxin carriers are arranged in such a way that they are protected against accidental contact and cannot be washed away by rain*

The inventive solution to this problem provides

that the snail fence consists of a plurality of movably connected, rigid strips, in particular made of plastic or similar, the individual lengths of which can be partially supplemented or removed and connected in different lengths and numbers according to the shape of the bed, and that the strips, in the area of their vertical borders on both sides, are each provided with an anchor pin directed towards the level of the bed

and the strips along their upper edge are formed into an open clamping eyelet pointing outside the bed and downwards towards it, into which the

other substances that are toxic to snails are added*

The design of the snail fence from multiple, movably connected strips allows for almost complete adaptation to the shape of the bed. As a rule, however, with minor compromises on this requirement, a uniform strip length is chosen that still offers sufficient adjustment options so that no elevated storage of individual parts is necessary.

The frame formed is, as described, connected in a simple manner to the bottom of the bed by means of anchor pins and the upper border is formed by a clamping eyelet, so that the rods treated with poisonous substances and pressed into the x/s only protrude through the open gap of the eyelet and are protected from rain washouts, careless contact, especially by children and animals, and, when the areas of the rod released by the gap are used up, the rod can be rotated as far and as often as necessary around its circumference.
