Description
Process for the production of copal pulps for linoleum production The plastic used for the production of linoleum, the so-called linoleum cement, is used by Vlzrl: besides made by Linoxyn with rosin and copal. The Powdered copal and with the rest of the ingredients at temperatures reaching 16o ° can kneaded. As long as you could use the traditional Kauricopal, the procedure offered no difficulties. The sites for this copal are but as good as exhausted, and in its place one has other sorts, namely Congo copals, used.
Even if the amount of copal processed in a linoleum cement is only small, it is seldom more than 5010 of the amount of linoxyn used, it gives the finished linoleum significantly better internal strength and resistance to breakage than is found in linoleum, for example was produced without Kopalzuscplag.
The difficulty is that the ones available today It is difficult to incorporate natural copals into the linoleum cement. Even so, before be finely powdered after the addition, they are poorly distributed in the mass. They clump together and only small amounts go into solution. The main part does not open up and therefore remains ineffective. The present invention avoids this this mistake, in that they reveal the natural copals not in bulk, but rather carried out in a special work step and thus to complete dissolution, So to the complete utilization, the Kosale arrives.
According to the invention, for example (Example r) 300 kg of finely powdered Congo copal are kneaded in a heatable kneading unit with 15 kg of linoleic acid at a heat which can be between 70 and iq: d °. After about an hour a homogeneous, unusually tough and strongly thread-pulling mass forms, in which individual parts of the copal are no longer recognizable. This mass is plastic in "the cold and" is added to the linoleum cement in amounts that can make up 3 to 7-10 of the amount of linoxyn used. The copal exposure spreads quickly and perfectly in the linoleum cement. In the copal run prepared according to the example given, a highly concentrated copal solution in linoleic acid is present. It is known that copals are soluble in oleic, fatty and resin acids. Practically, the good dissolving power of these acids in the production of laole is also used by heating natural copals with such acids at the same time to “high temperatures” until the brew has melted, i.e. in z. B. Linseed oil has become soluble. During this process a strong thermal decomposition of the copal occurs, which is associated with high melting losses.
This thermal decomposition of natural copal must be according to the present Invention can be avoided completely. The exposure of the copals takes place at Temperatures: instead of causing no decomposition, so that, the natural properties the copals are fully preserved. So there are no losses. The outcrops are in z. B. Linseed oil or mineral spirits are insoluble and are suitable for paint production just as little as copal melts in oleic acids, in which the copal decomposes thermally is, for, the linoleum production.
Instead of linseed or oleic acid, any other oleic and fatty acids, z. B. the acids from soybean oil, castor oil, wood oil, palm oil, oil, etc., used will. It is also advantageous to use tall oil, which consists of: a mixture of Resin acid and oleic acid exist, as do the oil, fatty and resin acids in general can be used in mixtures with one another. Except for the Congo all can other natural copals and so-called black and brown Sumatradammars are used.
An extremely tough plastic is obtained. Example 3 30o kg of natural copal powder (Manilakopal) are kneaded with 75 kg of linseed oil acid and 75 l of resin acid (rosin) between 70 and 140 ° until the mass is homogeneous. Example q. 300 kg of Congo copal powder are kneaded with 300 kg of resin acid (rosin) between 70 and 140 ° until the mass is homogeneous. In the cold this exposure is hard and can be powdered. The powder spreads easily and completely in the linoleum cement. Example 5 300 kg powder from East African copal (Madagascar) are kneaded with -5o kg castor oleic acid at 70 to 1q.0 ° until the mass is homogeneous.
In the case of particularly hard natural copals, it is necessary to increase the oleic acid content accordingly in order to achieve faster digestion. With softer ones. Varieties can also be made with smaller quantities. EXAMPLE 6 300 kg of finely powdered black Sumatradammar are kneaded with 15 kg of tall oil at 70 ° to 14 ° until the mass is homogeneous.
