«Kettenrad mit Tischen" Description :
« Sprocket with tables "
&iacgr; The invention relates to a chain wheel with pockets for receiving the horizontal links of a round steel chain, which are each formed by four teeth having curves in the area of their base, and with a circumferential groove serving to receive the horizontal links and dividing the pockets into two sections each.
In known sprockets of the above type, the roundings of the tooth bases, also known as tooth base radii, pass directly into the pocket base, which forms an essentially flat support surface with a recess in the area of the link legs, at least for the toric parts of the horizontal links (DIN template OO 15 125, DE-OS 31 15 927). In other words, the support surfaces of the known sprockets form tangential planes to an imaginary cylinder, the longitudinal axis of which coincides with the axis of rotation of the sprocket.
Dabei bildet der der Taschenbodenmitte zugewandte Rand der Verschleißmulden eine Art Kippkante, die zu Biegebeanspruchungen der Horizontalglieder führt, welche insbesondere bei höheren Lasten BrücheInvestigations have shown that the known type of support is not without problems. As a result of frictional wear caused by relative movements between the sprocket and the incoming horizontal links, wear troughs form in the area of the pocket bottom adjacent to the tooth root curves. These wear troughs do not pose a serious danger to the sprockets, but they do pose a serious danger to the horizontal links. The reason for this is that the vertical links try to press the parts of the horizontal links located in the area of the wear troughs into the wear troughs. The edge of the wear trough facing the middle of the pocket bottom forms a kind of tilting edge, which leads to bending stresses on the horizontal links, which can cause fractures, particularly under higher loads.

The invention is based on the object of creating a chain wheel, using the above findings, which enables better guidance of the horizontal links, i.e. which reduces the risk of breakage. This object is achieved according to the invention in that, in a chain wheel of the generic type, the tooth root roundings of the teeth of each chain pocket that follow one another in the circumferential direction of the chain wheel are adjoined by inclined surfaces that slope down towards the inside of the wheel.
The chain wheel according to the invention offers the advantage that the horizontal links guided by it are not exposed to bending loads of the type described above. The provision of inclined surfaces and the associated conscious omission of the generally considered necessary support of the horizontal links by flat parts of the pocket bottom does not have negative consequences. On the contrary, it opens up the possibility of a particularly economical production of the chain wheels, in which the teeth forming the chain pockets are connected to the base body of the chain wheel by welding. The inclined surfaces make it possible to use the same teeth for chain wheels with different pitches and in this way also to reduce storage costs. Regardless of the type of production of chain wheels according to the invention, they prove to be less sensitive to wear than conventional chain wheels.
In der Zeichnung sind lediglich die hinteren ZähneIn Fig. 1, 1 is the base body of a chain wheel, over whose circumference several pockets for horizontal links 4 are distributed, delimited by teeth 2. The tooth flanks 5 of the teeth 2 have rounded areas 6 in the area of the tooth roots, which are adjoined by inclined surfaces 7, which merge into the respective pocket bottom 8. In the drawing, only the rear teeth are shown.

Abweichend von der zuerst beschriebenen Konstruktion findet jedoch eine Rille 12 mit einem Grund 13 Verwendung, dessen Umfang im Bereich der ZähneIn Fig. 2, a chain wheel is shown that largely corresponds to the chain wheel according to Fig. 1. However, in contrast to the first described design, a groove 12 with a base 13 is used, the circumference of which in the area of the teeth
Like Fig. 2, Fig. 1 shows the target position of the horizontal links, which in practice is almost never achieved, particularly due to manufacturing tolerances and/or signs of wear. In this target position, the bows of the horizontal links are supported on the tooth root curves 6, i.e. there is usually no contact between the pocket bottom and the horizontal link 4, nor between the base 11 or 13 of the grooves 10 or 12 and the vertical link 9.
Fig. 3, on the other hand, shows the conditions that regularly occur in practice. Due to the chain pitch being larger than the tooth pitch of the sprocket, the rear bow of the horizontal link 4 driven by the right tooth 2 moves upwards along the tooth flank 5 as it passes the sprocket, while the front bow slides slightly downwards on the left inclined surface 7. Due to the inclination of the inclined surface 7 against which the front bow of the horizontal link 4 rests, and due to the friction and force conditions at the support points, the sliding movement begins at a later point in time than with conventional sprockets. This means that the forces that occur between the slipping link and the sprocket are lower in the slipping phase and result in a reduction in wear. The service life of both the sprocket and the chain is increased in this way.
In the case of the sprocket according to Fig. 2 and 3, further relief of the horizontal link 4 used to transmit the circumferential force is achieved by contact between the vertical link 9 and the support trough 14 formed by the groove base 13. This also has a positive effect on the service life of the sprocket and chain.
Figures 4-6 show two sprockets with teeth welded onto a base body 15. The same teeth 16 are used on both sprockets. This is possible despite different tooth pitches due to the inclined surfaces 7.
While the base body 15 of the sprocket according to Fig. 4-6 consists of one piece, the sprocket according to Fig. 7 and 8 has a base body 20 formed from three rings 17, 18, 19 connected to one another by welding. In this case, the teeth 2 are milled into the rings 17 and 19.
