Description
Light-emitting electrical discharge vessel with a luminophore It is known in - electric mercury vapor tubes or lamps by a mechanical mixture or mixture of different luminophores a white light or to generate a spectrally colored light. The brightness of these mercury vapor tubes or lamps will depend largely on the extent of the pressure damage used Luminophores affected. Practically every fluorescent material suffers from this pressure destruction if it is to have such a grain size that a well cohesive luminophore layer in the mercury vapor tube or lamp by a dry or wet placement process arises.
Furthermore, the intensity depends largely on the temperature inside discharge tube or lamp, it being known that most luminophores show a sharp decrease in their intensity with increasing temperature. Through this there is the major disadvantage that the tube is slow during operation changes color.
Experiments have now shown that an activated with a rare earth Calcium silicate luminophore with the addition of two or more heavy metal salts, z. B. of lead and / or bismuth and (or manganese as an activator compared to known Luminoproren: Irn ° low pressure: destruction even when crushed under a, Ir and a slight temperature dependence of the glow on - «- ice, so that these luminophores especially preferred for excitation by electrical discharges in mercury vapor tubes or lamps. It is of the greatest value that the luminophores mentioned are particularly good for mixtures with other phosphors are suitable. For this reason, are used for whitish tints Mixtures of the mentioned luminophores together with 0 to 40% magnesium tungstate, o to 5o% only green-yellow luminous zinc silicate, with blue-green luminous calcium phosphate-calcium fluoride-bismuth-manganese Luminophore and / or calcium tungstate suggested.
