Description

Neon letters Illuminated letters are known in which the individual transparent characters in corresponding Recesses one, if necessary, into several in walk past the writing surface in front of the light source gende single panels resolved opaque Are inserted and which are presented to the viewer geNvandtc rear face and, 'of the dem Front face of the viewer facing Illuminated signs in their transparency up to the visual liarinaclien, -: are niinrlert. Through such an education becomes that which enters the luminous signs Light distributed as homogeneously as possible and / or the in the luminous signs entered and through this guided light in as uniform a spread as possible brought to exit. In a particular embodiment of this known devices, the transparency reduction of the front surfaces mentioned by over- pull the same with an optically clouded cover layer, e.g. B. an opalescent, fluorescent or phosphorescent and, if necessary, fiii-lit ° ii layer, achieved. Here you can use the Luminous efficiency of the whole still through this «-eiter favorably affect that you have such top layers selects whose refractive index is lower than the that of the work forming the luminous signs substance, because it makes the whole angle of the total Reflection against the incoming light- pushed and thus at the facing rear face an even larger rer light emission is made possible. It has now been found that with such transparent signs particularly favorable effects cautions in devices of the aforementioned Art can be achieved if these characters are made of a material with high optical refractive power, such as B. from a known plastic based on the polyacrylic acid ester, by taking advantage of this natural high refractive index, a luminous flux running in the character when it hits the boundary walls of the character is reflected in a particularly strong manner in the inner volume of the character by the process of reflection.

PATENT CLAIM: Illuminated writing in which the individual transparent characters are inserted into corresponding recesses in an opaque board, which is optionally broken down into several individual boards to be moved past the light source in the writing plane and the transparency of the rear face facing away from the viewer and / or that facing the viewer The front face of the luminous signs is reduced until they are visible, characterized in that the signs are made of a material of high refractive power, whereby the illumination is reflected in a particularly strong manner into the interior volume of the sign.
