and simplification of cinematographic recording practice is made use of
made, which are known under the name rear projection and the like. These procedures
consist in the fact that the scene to be recorded is not natural in its entirety
Objects, but that only part of the scene is natural during the
remaining part consists of pictures. Which part from natural objects and which
consists of images, it depends on the particular circumstances from case to case.
A frequently occurring special case of this procedure is
that the images used in the rear projection are themselves moving images,
d. H. there are cinematographically projected images as parts of a new cinematographic one
Recording used. It is in the nature of this procedure that those on one screen
projected images must have such a high brightness that the new recording
these images in connection with the associated natural scenes without further ado
can be done; this means that the pictures are in the correct with regard to their brightness
Must be in relation to the brightness of the scene. The fulfillment of this condition
is made very difficult by the fact that the projection of the images is not from the front,
d. H. of the page. can be made from where the scene is running because the people
and objects in the foreground in the beam path of the projection device
and thus disturb the picture. Rather, the projection must be on the back
of the screen (rear projection). But with this there is a strong loss of light
connected, since only that part of the light is effective for the renewed absorption,
that goes through the screen. From the possibility of the screen very translucent
to do, d. H. matting it only very weakly is only possible to a limited extent
Use should be made, otherwise the light source will shine through the screen
would. All that remains is therefore a lamp with a das for the rear projection
usual 1 @ Iass to use far exceeding brightness so that the picture on the
The front of the rear projection screen still has sufficient brightness.
On the other hand, such an abnormally strong light source has the disadvantage that the
Heating of the filmstrip is unacceptably high, so that the film as a result of warping
and throwing becomes unusable after a short time.
These deficiencies are avoided by the invention. According to the invention
the surface of the screen is provided with a layer, which when it hits the screen
of rays of light
becomes self-luminous and for some time to come
lights up after the radiation has ceased. Such substances, e.g. B. Zinc Sulphide "; the
known under the name Leuchtphosphore bc, emit a sives when irradiated
Light off, the color of which depends on the phosphor in question. Expedient: moderate
such a body is used which is mainly photographically effective
Emits rays. in this way it is achieved that one less for projection
strong light source is sufficient because its radiation is better used. Appropriate
is z. B. used a light source that is predominantly a short-wave, ie violet
or emits ultraviolet radiation; in this case, appropriate
Filters that absorb long-wave thermal radiation: impermissible heating
of the film can be largely avoided. In the presence of a light source finite
predominantly violet or ultraviolet rays, optics are expediently used,
which is permeable to these rays.
For the purposes of the invention, it does not matter whether the
applied luminous layer only on the back or only on the front
or on both sides at the same time.
In the known type of rear projection, there was also a considerable one
Disadvantage is that the illumination of the foreground also means the projected one
Background image bziv. the screen was lit, causing the background image
became very poor in contrast when the new image was taken. To remedy this deficiency, one was
dependent on the way out to illuminate the foreground only with side light, so
that the screen didn't get any light. In the method jrc) r r invention
will this deficiency avoid that to illuminate the. ergrundes a light source
is used whose rays do not affect the photoluminescent layer of the screen
Stimulate lights, this measure is achieved; that the foreground in any
Can be illuminated in any way and intensity without affecting the projected background image
is impaired in its contrast effect.
