Packungen für pulverförmige Stoffe sind meist im Deckel mit einer größeren Zahl kleiner Löcher versehen, so daß die in der Packung enthaltenen pulverförmigen Stoffe durch stoßweises Bewegen der Packung ausgestreut werden können. Eine feine Verteilung der Stoffe ist damit nicht möglich. Sie fallen vielmehr in kleinen Häufchen auf die Stelle, an der das Pulver wirksam werden soll. Praktisch läßt sich der pulverförmige Stoff auf diese Weise nur von oben her an die mit ihm zu bestreuenden Stellen heranbringen. Die Einführung z. B. pulverförmiger Ungeziefervertilgungsmittel u. dgl. in waagerecht verlaufende oder sich nach unten öffnende Spalten und Schlitze ist auf diese Weise nicht möglich. In solchen Fällen wird das Pulver vielfach in Spritzen umgefüllt. Da diese nicht jedermann zur Verfügung stehen, hat man zur Vereinfachung Flachpackungen mit nach außen gewölbten federnden Wänden geschaffen, aus denen durch Gegeneinanderdrücken der beiden nach außen gewölbten Wände und dadurch herbeigeführten Luftverdichtung das Pulver durch eine seitliche Öffnung verstäubt werden kann. Diese Packungen sind lediglich zum Zerstäuben verhältnismäßig kleiner Mengen verwendbar, da die bei einmaligem Gegeneinanderdrücken der Wände der Packungen geförderte Menge pulverförmiger Masse gering ist.
