Description

Light colored bituminous emulsions Bituminous paint emulsions have In addition to many advantages, the disadvantage is that the coatings are quite dark and the fact that the coloring requires so much attention to detail makes the special one 1? Eiiscliaften the hituniincisen binders are thereby questioned. It has now been found that such emulsions can be lightened with very small amounts Aluminum powder, e.g. 13. 3 to 4 ° / o, can be achieved by using the aluminum powder previously treated accordingly. - if aluminum powder of commercial quality is removed to a bituminous emulsion in small amounts, the result is streaky or streaky Paintings. This is due to the fact that the aluminum powder as a result of it Pretreatment with stearin and the like has water-repellent properties and therefore in the aqueous emulsion forms lumps, which on spreading be crushed and cause stains and streaks. This disadvantage can can be prevented by adding a so-called wetting agent to the emulsion, such as. B. alcohol, Stilfonic acids and similar products, as they are generally known as wetting agents. This means that the surface of the luininium parts is no longer water-repellent acts, rather wetted with water without further ado, so that the aluminum powder floats in finest distribution in the emulsion. The paints made with it are completely free of streaks and lighten the dark bitumen emulsion in the desired way Way up.
