Beim Verzinken werden im allgemeinen die Spalten zwischen den Gitterdrähten und Bohrlöchern durch das Zink vollkommen geschlossen, aber sie bleiben nicht dauernd geschlossen, weil das Gitter beim Transport, bei der Montage, bei Sturm oder anderen Einwirkungen arbeitet und dadurch die dünne Zinkschicht über den Spalten verletzt wird. Infolgedessen kann hier Feuchtigkeit in das Rohr eindringen und das Gitter infolgedessen im Laufe der Zeit Schaden nehmen.
