Description
KAISERLICHESIMPERIAL
PATENTAMT.PATENT OFFICE.
Up to now, wires have generally been attached to insulators by inserting them into a groove on the insulator and then tied with binding wire. This attachment has its various evils. Attaching the tie wire is pretty laborious. In addition, the connection is not very strong and finite re-tensioning or at least re-fastening is only possible after the connection is destroyed.
On the other hand, the new connection should aim at greater strength and at the same time enable more convenient attachment and detachment than was previously possible. Also the fastening can be re-tensioned in the simplest possible way.
Fig. Ι and Fig. 2 show the connection for ceiling insulators, which in wooden walls 3, 4 and 5 represent individual fastening pieces, in FIG. 6 and 7, finally, a shape corresponding to the usual insulator is drawn.
The most important part of the connection is an opening in the insulator into which a metal ring α fits. This metal ring engages at one end over the lead wire b, while its other end is gripped by a conical pin c , for which a special opening is also provided in the insulator. By driving in the conical pin, the ring is tightened and, as a result, the lead wire is pressed against the insulator while at the same time bending in, so that the wire cannot slide over the insulator.
The rings are used for bare or insulated simple wires of metal, but for insulated wires Double conductor made of insulating material with advantage. As such, for example, is suitable volcanic fiber, which is put on the market in tubes. These tubes then deliver the individual rings cut up.
For home furnishings, etc., the rings can be kept closed, which is a requires great strength. The worker has to pull them on the wire and off Pushing fastening point to fastening point. The recommended for overhead lines open form, with thinner wires in the manner shown in FIGS. 3 and 4. In the case of stronger overhead lines, on the other hand, the semi-closed form, which is forgeable Gufs running is preferable.
