Process for the digestion of vanadium-containing slags The invention relates to a process for the digestion of vanadium-containing slags by roasting a slag-alkali salt mixture at: temperatures of about 700 to $ 00 ° C. and subsequent leaching of the roasted product to recover the soluble products Vanadium compounds.
The desired success of the digestion, d. H. the transfer of water-insoluble
Vanadi.nverbindunagen in water-soluble alkali compounds, experience shows
adversely affected by the fact that the raw slag or the mixture of raw slag
and alkalis are available at temperatures lower than the required reaction temperature
fully starts to stick around 700 ° C. As a result, the ovens will soon be completely
smeared «earth and the formation of the water-soluble alkali compounds of vanadium
is severely impaired due to insufficient air access. Through the formation of the approach
and their elimination of related operational disruptions, however, is the throughput
of the ovens and, due to the imperfect digestion, the application of vanadium is high
reduced, which 'in the case of industrial facilities has not been higher than, at best, 65%.
Detailed investigations have now shown that the temperatures are already hot
melting phenomena of the raw slag or the mixture occurring below 700 ° C
raw slag and alkalis are their cause
have that yourself
the good already when heated to about 600 ° C as a result of oxidation of lower oxidation levels
the components of the good. such as from VanadintriGxvd {V @ .O @@ to Vanadinpentoxvd
lt @ O-., ä, ignited and the goods as a result of the resulting heat of combustion
is heated locally so strongly without external heat that it softens.
This disadvantage is avoided according to the invention. that the
Roasting mixture, before roasting, substances that are compatible with the components of the roasting mixture: s
Do not react chemically at roasting temperature and have a higher melting point
as the constituents of the roast mixture, such as quartz sand or red iron stone.
be mixed in in such an amount that as a result, so much of the roasting process takes place
forming e_xothermal heat of reaction is absorbed, dali softening and caking
of the roasted food is reliably prevented.
In a well-known method of elianding vanadium-containing starting materials, before the reddening of the vanadium-containing material, depending on the chemical composition of the material, corresponding amounts of silica: acid in the form of sand, substances with a high silica or slag are added. The purpose of this is to improve the digestibility of the vanadium. while in the case of the "experienced @ eniät: @" of the invention, the addition of sand serves exclusively to absorb the exothermic heat of reaction that forms during roasting and has a detrimental effect on the roasting process In the method according to the invention, a purely mechanical addition of sand to the slag alkali salt mixture is sufficient, whereas in the known method it is necessary to cause the sand with the vanadium-containing material to slurry before roasting . Either will hereinafter the Gut-sand mixture annealed to sintering or the vanadium-containing slag is sand added, the slag will not be separated is in Schinelzfluß. tHIS iS -orgänge to chemical \, while the process according to the invention, the substances added take part in some chemical reaction.
Experiments have shown that the new method sticks
the slag-salt mixture mixed with härnatite at 700 ° C does not. Accordingly
the formation of water-soluble vanadium compounds was completely uniform. The solubility
was 95 °: ° j. This result could be achieved in just a few hours.
The beneficial effect of the process is due to the fact that the exothermic
The heat of reaction of the opening process is absorbed by the aggregate,
thereby preventing local overheating «-erden.
It can be advantageous for vanadium slags with metallic iron contents
be that the metallic iron contained in the slag in order to reduce the
substances involved in the exothermic roasting reaction before mixing with the alkali compounds
and removed from the roasting process, e.g. B. by magnetic means.
stehenden Rohstoffe.By improving the spread according to your new method
the cost of extracting vanadium is significantly reduced. The procedure
according to the invention therefore means an important technical and economic one
Progress and ensures a much better use of the available
standing raw materials.
