Radlight system with an alternator that can be engaged and disengaged. The invention
refers to a wheel light system with an alternator that can be engaged and disengaged, the
feeds a headlight lamp and a tail lamp when driving, and with a battery,
that can feed the tail lamp.

On the other hand, when the bicycle is stationary, it is not possible for the alternator, which is only driven by the bicycle while driving, to supply the headlight lamp or the taillight with power. It has therefore already been proposed to feed the tail light from the battery when the bicycle is stationary, while it is supplied with power from the alternator when driving. In known systems, a special switch is provided for switching the tail lamp from the alternator to the battery; However, this is disadvantageous insofar as switching over can easily be forgotten when getting off the bike, or at least it is perceived as annoying. The invention eliminates this disadvantage and makes it make use of the fact that the light

In another embodiment according to Fig. S, the alternator is denoted by 30, the coil of the relay is denoted by 31 and the main headlight lamp connected to the alternator 3o is denoted by 3a. 33 is the iron core, and 34 is the armature or switching arm of the relay, which is held in contact with a contact 36 in the position shown by a spring 35. The switching arm 34, the axis of rotation 47 of which is constantly connected to the Schlwßampe 37, also has a connection in the position shown to an in the headlamp housing 46 arranged: a shift lever 4o is connected to the line sections 44 42. The line section 41 leads to the battery 43, while the other line section 42 is connected to the alternator 30 via a rectifier 44. The shift lever 40 is, as indicated by dash-dotted lines 48, 49, connected to the engagement lever 49 of the alternator 3o in such a way that the switch 39, 4o is closed when the alternator is engaged or opened when the alternator is disengaged.
When the bicycle is out of order or is used during the day without lights, the alternator 3o is disengaged and the shift lever 40 is open. The shutdown alternator 3o can now deliver just as little power as the battery 43, which is disconnected from all power consumers 32, 37, 38. However, if light is required when the bicycle is still stationary, the shift lever 40 is connected to contact 39 by engaging the alternator. As a result, the tail lamp 37 and, because the coil 31 is still de-energized, also the energy-saving lamp 38 are connected to the battery 43. When the bicycle is stationary and the alternator is engaged, the tail lamp 37 and the energy-saving lamp 38 light up as parking lights. The arrangement of the rectifier 44 prevents current from the battery from reaching the main lamp 32 of the headlight or the alternator 3o, the permanent magnets of which can be demagnetized by such a current.
As soon as you ride your bike with the alternator engaged and the alternator generates a sufficiently strong voltage when a certain speed is reached so that the headlight lamp 32 lights up, the iron core 33 attracts the switching arm 34 and switches off the energy-saving lamp 38, which is no longer required. As soon as the voltage generated by the alternator has become higher than the battery voltage as the speed increases, the alternator begins to supply the tail lamp 37 with current via the rectifier 44 and to charge the battery 43. The supply of the tail lamp 37 with current from the alternator 30 , and the charging of the battery 43 stops when the voltage of the alternator 3o has dropped below the voltage of the battery 43 while driving slower. Now the main lamp 32 of the headlamp begins to shine weaker, and the iron 1 "ern 33 of the relay is no longer able to control the armature due to the low current flow through the coil 31 as soon as the speed of the alternator falls below a certain level 34 against the action of the spring 35. The spring 35 now pulls the armature 34 to the right in such a way that the contacts 34, 36 close, causing the energy-saving lamp 38 connected to the battery 43 to light up the tail lamp 37 both lamps 32 and 38 in the headlight housing 46, while when the bicycle is stationary and the alternator 3o is switched off, only the energy-saving lamp 38 and the tail lamp 37 continue to shine. The lamps 37 and 38 continue to shine until they are disengaged of the alternator 3o the shift lever 4o coupled with the disengagement process interrupts the circuit of the battery. This disengagement of the Lic The machine 30 only takes place when the wheel light system is put out of operation in such a way that none of the lamps should be on. All other switching operations that are necessary as long as one or more lamps are to be in operation according to the normal needs of the cyclist, take place automatically after the shift lever .lo is brought into its on position by engaging the alternator.
