Description
Process for spinning vinyl chloride and as. Dichloroethylene copolymers The copolymers of vinyl chloride and as. Dichlorethylene are known to have good physical properties, such as great flexibility and tensile or tear strength. A disadvantage of these copolymers is that it has not previously been possible to use them to process into threads in the dry spinning process, since the copolymer in the known organic solvents only incompletely soluble st. So you could especially the highly polymerized mixed polymers made of vinyl chloride and as. Spin dichloroethylene only in melt flow under pressure. This procedure is there naturally only proportionally = moderately thick threads or bristles.
It has now been found that copolymers of vinyl chloride and as. Dichloroethylene, in which the dichloroethylene content is from 0 to 25 %, dissolve well in Tatrahydrofuran, and that these solutions are too fine by the known dry spinning process Let artificial threads spin.
The: Copolymers allow very highly concentrated production Solutions; so it does z. B. no difficulties. Solutions of any concentration required manufacture so that one each. effortlessly the necessary for the dry spinning process Can get spinning solution with the desired content of copolymer.
It has already been proposed to use mixed polymers from V1nvIChlorld and 2o ° ;. to 8o °, 1o as. Dichloroethyien to produce, which should show good solubility in organic solvents. A mixture of butyl acetate, benzene and acetone is called a mixture of solvents with particular solubility. Neither this mixture nor its individual components, however, are capable of dissolving a copolymer of - \ Tinvlchlorid and 5 % to a5% as. Dichloroethylene in such a way that the solution can be spun. However, it is precisely threads made from these copolymers that show particularly good strength and elongation properties. It is so surprising that polyvinyl and dichloroethylene copolymers can easily be mixed with a dichloroethylene gel of up to 1/4 of the substance to be dissolved. let dissolve in tetrahydrofuran.
Beispiel Ein in bekannter Weise hergestelltes Mischpolymerisat aus go °% Vinylchlorid und io.°,1« as. Viscosität o gemessen in o.i °%igerLösung, entsteht. Example A copolymer produced in a known manner from % vinyl chloride and io. °, 1% as. dichloroethylene is dissolved in tetrahydrofluorine, so that a 35 ° / ° solution of the Ili polymer of the spec. Viscosity measured o in o.i °% solution, arises. This solution is in a dry spinning apparatus spun. The nozzle head temperature is 67 °, the cell temperature 125 °, the Triggered at a speed of 22o in ;! inin. Come to use Nozzles with 32 holes and a diameter of 0.06 inches.
The thread spun in this way has a titer of N ", about 55. This thread is twisted with igo turns and after twisting it is stretched by 150%. Before or during stretching, the thread is passed through a water bath at 70 °. The thread finally obtained has a titre of NCR 140, a tenacity of 15.3 km and an elongation of 14%.
The solutions of the mixed polymer from vinyl chloride and as. Dichloroethylene can also be used for casting films, producing hollow bodies and as coatings use.
