herzustellen.Method and device for the heat treatment of objects
Light metals and their alloys There are known methods in which metals
be treated warm in baths of molten salts, or those in which
the treatment takes place in mostly circulated air. Baths of molten salts
are, however, mainly in part, such as those for quenching and tempering light metals
molten saltpeter used, explosive under certain conditions.
Melts from other salts, on the other hand, attack the material too much
both that to be remunerated and that of the container in which they are melted.
In addition, molten salts are hardly suitable for certain temperature ranges
to manufacture.
In the case of heat treatment in air, it must be taken into account that the heat transfer
compared to the molten salts is relatively slow, so that the requirements
production is not fully taken into account. . The inventive method
is based on the fact that the heat transfer to the objects to be treated through
Wrapping them in flowing sand at the required temperature
he follows. Instead of the sand, another granular or powdery one can also be used
material that does not bake at the required temperature, but rather that flows like sand,
z. B. metal grit, used as a heat transfer agent «-erden. Because of this
Procedure will take advantage of heat treatment in baths of molten salts,
namely fast and even heat transfer to the item to be treated
and completely retained, the disadvantages, however, eliminated. There is nothing here
Explosion hazard and also no corrosion. The latter point in particular is economical
of great importance, but leads z. B. Corrosion from saltpetre melting in
the light metal industry
often destroying the expensive, mostly
containers made of special steel and also causes high costs
destroyed by the expansion and the installation of a new container as well as the
associated loss of production. Another advantage is the extraordinary cheapness
and persistence of sand as a heat transfer agent rather than molten one
Salt. The molten salts are continuously lost during the work process
quite a large part is lost, which adheres to the treated materials and
as a result, it gets into the quenching or rinsing water. Another advantage of the procedure
is that the treated objects, e.g. B. tempered sheets, pure and stain-free
are.
dar.Compared to the heat treatment in air, the method according to the invention has
: the same advantages as treatment in baths from molten salts. It
thus represents a very significant advance compared to the previously practiced procedures
represent.
a, b und c.
in aufgehängt. The drawing shows a sketched example of a device for carrying out the method, namely a section through a furnace for quenching and tempering light metal sheets. The furnace consists of the three main parts a, b and c. Part a and c are sand containers, while part b is the actual furnace consisting of several chambers d. The ceilings c are provided with a device which, when opened, ensures that the chambers are filled quickly and evenly with sand. Likewise, the floors f of the chambers are provided with such a device that enables the chambers to be emptied quickly and evenly. The sand container a is fitted with built-in electric heaters g, as are known in various forms, e.g. B. as rods or spirals. These are arranged in such a way that even heating of the sand is ensured. The chambers d are also equipped with these radiators g. They are separated from one another by insulating partitions h. A frame i is drawn in the left chamber, open at the top and on all sides, which is used to hold the sheets to be tempered. In the frame are attached to the top bars k, which are designed so that they do not prevent the sanding of the sheets, the sheets to be remunerated in suspended.
automatisch wieder in den Sandbehälter a befördert. The use of this furnace is briefly described as follows: The sheets ne to be remunerated are hung in the frame i , which is then inserted into the furnace chamber (1), which is at the required temperature. After the chamber is closed, sending begins Sand container a, heated to the required temperature, flows very quickly into chamber d and the sheets are evenly and completely enveloped. The insulation of the chamber and its heating ensure that no harmful heat loss occurs flow from the chamber d into the lower sand container c, after the chamber is opened the frame i with the metal sheets en extends and scares off as usual. The sand from the sand container c "is automatically conveyed back into the sand container a in a manner known per se .
Of course, if the furnace is constructed accordingly, it is easily possible to
according to the inventive method also differently shaped metal products, such as pressed parts,
Pipes, rods, etc., to be quenched and tempered or subjected to another heat treatment.
