Process for the smelting of iron ores The invention is concerned
deal with the important task of reducing the coke consumption of the blast furnace during smelting
to reduce such ores whose heat requirement for their preheating in the furnace shaft is disproportionate
is large, so that there is a lack of shaft heat, since this is the heat content of the
Ascending rack, gases are insufficient. This case occurs, for example,
when raw Great Dane ore is smelted, which contains only 20 ° J0 iron in the moisture and
supplies about aoo ° / Q slag. In general, such ore is not smelted raw,
but only in a roasted or sintered state.
mindestens 550' U.The known task of smelting the raw ore is carried out according to the invention by partial post-combustion of the carbon oxide-rich gas rising from the frame. Blowing in wind, especially hot wind, released into the upper part of the blast furnace shaft. The wind to be blown in is expediently given a temperature which is above the ignition temperature of the rising gases, ie a temperature of at least 550 ' U.
The afterburning of the rising gases in coke shaft ovens is known to encounter the difficulty that not only the gases but also the coke burn. It has now been shown, surprisingly, that as a result of the surface effect of such ores, the rising gas reacts with the oxygen of the blown wind at temperatures at which the coke is not yet attacked. The pyrophoric dust particles that the gases carry with them seem to act as an explosive. The decisive factor here is not the actual ignition temperature of carbon oxide and hydrogen, but the considerably lower reaction temperature in the presence of the ores. In the textbooks, the ignition temperature of hydrogen in air is given as at least 53o ° and that of carbon oxide as at least 6 = 0 °. Thereafter, blast furnace gas would have a higher ignition temperature than Saarkoks. Laboratory tests have shown that dogger ore, for example, causes a vigorous reaction between blast furnace gas and air at 300 ' , while Saarkoks only reacts noticeably with air above 5000. The subject matter of the invention thus relates to a method that is based on previously unknown observations.
On the basis of this new finding, it is proposed according to the invention that
to feed the wind to the Hochofelischacht in such a zone in which the coke
does not yet react with the gases, i.e. in a zone such as the
Corresponds to the ignition temperature of the coke. The local combustion of the coke
can thereby be prevented. that the additional wind in many individual places
the blast furnace shaft is blown in. The ore is expediently in previously broken,
abandoned in a small-story state. It is also possible to burn the coke
to inhibit by the fact that the coke pieces are coated with lime or clay by
z. B. the glowing coke is extinguished with sludge of clayey iron ores.
It is known in a shaft furnace filled with ores above
to blow hot air into the reduction zone in order to partially produce the required fuel
to replace. However, this is in contrast to the subject matter of the invention
not a coke oven, but a shaft oven heated with coal dust.
