Description
- Die vorliegende Erfindung betrifft ein Verfahren zur Herstellung einer Amid-Produktmischung mit einem niedrigen Gehalt an sekundären Aminen. Die erhaltene Amid-Produktmischung enthält eine kleinere Menge an tertiären Aminen und zeigt bei Verwendung für die Formulierung von kosmetischen Produkten wie beispielsweise Shampoos und Cremes; Schaumreinigungszusammensetzungen, z.B. für Textilien und Automobile; und funktionellen Fluiden, wie beispielsweise Schmiermitteln, Metallbearbeitungsfluiden und hydraulischen Fluiden, vorteilhafte Eigenschaften.
- Die Verwendung von durch Amidierung von Monocarbonsäuren oder deren Alkylestern, wie beispielsweise Methylestern, mit sekundären Aminen wie z.B. Diethanolamin hergestellten Amiden in einer Vielfalt von kosmetischen Produkten, Schaumreinigungszusammensetzungen und industriellen Fluiden ist wohlbekannt. Um die Bildung von unerwünschten Nebenprodukten wie beispielsweise Monoestern, Diestern und unterschiedlichen Typen von Esteramiden zu vermeiden, ist die Amidierungs-Reaktion normalerweise in einem Überschuß des sekundären Amins wie beispielsweise Diethanolamin durchgeführt worden, der nach der Umsetzung unumgesetzt in der Reaktionsmischung vorliegt. Der Gehalt an sekundärem Amin in der Reaktionsmischung kann innerhalb weiter Grenzen schwanken, liegt aber oberhalb 1 Gew.-%. Wenn die Reaktanten eine Monocarbonsäure und Diethanolamin sind, liegt der Gehalt an sekundärem Amin normalerweise zwischen 10 und 30 Gew.-%, und mit dem Methylester einer Monocarbonsäure und Diethanolamin als Reaktanten liegt der Gehalt an sekundärem Amin bei etwa 5 - 10 Gew.-%.
- Die Tatsache, daß die Amid-Produktmischung eine große Menge an sekundärem Amin wie beispielsweise Diethanolamin enthält, ist nicht als wirklicher Nachteil angesehen worden, da das sekundäre Amin bei Verwendung in funktionellen Fluiden zu verbesserten Antikorrosions- Eigenschaften und bei Verwendung in kosmetischen Produkten und Schaumreinigungszusammensetzungen zu einer gewünschten Alkalinität und Schaumstabilisierung beigetragen hat.
- In jüngerer Zeit ist der Tatsache, daß sekundäre Amine wie beispielsweise Diethanolamin toxisch sind und Nitrosamine bilden, die in Tierversuchen karzinogen sind, mehr Beachtung geschenkt worden. Deshalb ist eine Verminderung des Gehalts an sekundären Aminen wünschenswert. Der Gehalt sollte gemäß Empfehlungen weniger als 1 Gew.-% betragen.
- Somit ist ein Ziel der vorliegenden Erfindung die Herstellung einer Amid-Produktmischung, die weniger als 1 Gew.-% sekundäre Amine enthält.
- Ein weiteres Ziel der Erfindung ist, daß das Verfahren der Herstellung der Amid-Produktmischung einfach durchzuführen sein soll und daß die Amid-Produktmischung ohne zusätzliche Reinigungs- und/oder Aufarbeitungsverfahren einsetzbar sein soll.
- Ein weiteres Ziel der Erfindung ist es, die Bildung von Estern, Diestern und Esteramiden auf einem niedrigen Niveau zu halten.
- Ein noch weiteres Ziel der Erfindung ist, daß die Amid-Produktmischung zumindest etwa dieselbe korrosionsinhibierende Fähigkeit und/oder etwa dieselben Antischaumeigenschaften in funktionellen Fluiden und mindestens etwa dieselben schaumstabilisierenden Eigenschaften in kosmetischen Produkten und Schaumreinigungsprodukten aufweisen soll als die entsprechende Amid-Produktmischung mit hohen Gehalten an sekundären Aminen.
- Erfindungsgemäß ist gefunden worden, daß diese Ziele erreicht werden können durch Herstellung einer Amid-Produktmischung, die einen größeren Teil eines Carbonsäureamids mit der Formel
- worin R eine aliphatische Kohlenwasserstoffgruppe mit 7 - 23 Kohlenstoffatomen ist, R&sub1; und R&sub2; unabhängig voneinander eine Alkylgruppe mit 2 - 8 Kohlenstoffatomen, vorzugsweise 1 - 4 Kohlenstoffatomen, oder Hydroxyalkylgruppen mit 2 - 8 Kohlenstoffatomen, vorzugsweise 2 - 4 Kohlenstoffatomen darstellen; und weniger als 1 Gew.- % eines sekundären Amins mit der Formel
- worin R&sub1; und R&sub2; die oben erwähnte Bedeutung haben; enthält, aus einer Amid-Produktmischung, die einen größeren Teil eines Carbonsäureamids mit der Formel (I) und mehr als 1 Gew.-% eines sekundären Amins mit der Formel (II) enthält, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß die Amid-Produktmischung, die mehr als 1 Gew.-% des sekundären Amins II enthält, mit einem aliphatischen Alkylenoxid mit 2 - 8 Kohlenstoffatomen, vorzugsweise 2 - 4 Kohlenstoffatomen, in Abwesenheit einer wesentlichen Menge irgendeines Alkoxylierungs-Katalysators alkoxyliert wird, bis der Gehalt des sekundären Amins weniger als 1 Gew.-% beträgt. Unter dem Ausdruck "größerer Teil eines Monocarbonsäureamids" wird hier verstanden, daß dieses Amid mindestens 50 Gew.-% der Amid-Produktmischung ausmacht. Das sekundäre Amin, das einer der Reaktanten im Verfahren ist, weist eine katalytische Wirkung auf und scheint seine eigene Alkoxylierung ziemlich selektiv zu katalysieren. Die Anwesenheit einer effektiven Menge eines von dem sekundären Amin verschiedenen Alkoxylierungs-Katalysators muß vermieden werden, da dieser unerwünschte Nebenreaktionen begünstigt.
- Durch das erfindungsgemäße Verfahren wird der Gehalt an sekundären Aminen auf weniger als 1 Gew.-% vermindert, während die unerwünschten Nebenreaktionen wie beispielsweise Alkoxylierung von Hydroxylgruppen und Veresterung auf einem niedrigen Niveau gehalten werden. Weiter ist die erhaltene Amid-Produktmischung bei Raumtemperatur ein klares homogenes Fluid, obwohl die Ausgangs-Amid-Produktmischung normalerweise fest oder halbfest ist. Es wurde gefunden, daß es zur weiteren Unterdrückung der Nebenreaktionen geeignet ist, die Umsetzung unter 100ºC, vorzugsweise unter 80ºC und am meisten bevorzugt unter 60ºC, durchzuführen. Die Menge an zugesetztem Alkylenoxid muß in Abhängigkeit von der Menge an sekundären Aminen eingestellt werden, so daß die letzteren gut zum entsprechenden tertiären Alkanolamin alkoxyliert werden können.
- Normalerweise beträgt das Molverhältnis von Alkylenoxid zu dem sekundären Amin 1,0 bis 1,25, vorzugsweise 1,01 - 1,15.
- Geeignete Monocarbonsäureamide mit der Formel (I) sind diejenigen, in denen die Acylgruppe RCO von Fettsäure und aliphatischen gesättigten oder ungesättigten, geraden oder verzweigten syntethischen Säuren abgeleitet ist. Konkrete Beispiele für derartige Monocarbonsäuren sind 2-Ethylhexansäure, n-Octansäure, Pelargonsäure, Isononansäure, n-Decansäure, Laurinsäure, Myristinsäure, Palmitinsäure und Ölsäure.
- Die Wahl der Carbonsäuren reguliert u.a. den HLB-Wert der Monocarbonsäureamide, aber auch die Wahl des sekundären Amins ist von Bedeutung. Normalerweise bezeichnen die Gruppen R&sub1; und R&sub2; Gruppen, die wenige Kohlenstoffatome enthalten, aber falls die Gruppe R eine geringe Anzahl von Kohlenstoffatomen aufweist und/oder ein ziemlich hydrophobes Amid gewünscht wird, kann es von Vorteil sein, sekundäre Amine mit Alkyl- oder Hydroxyalkylgruppen mit mehr als 4 Kohlenstoffatomen zu wählen. Dasselbe gilt auch für die Wahl des Alkylenoxids. Normalerweise bezeichnen R&sub1; und R&sub2; jedoch Niederalkylgruppen wie beispielsweise Methyl, Ethyl, Proypl, Isopropyl, Butyl oder Isobutyl; oder Hydroxyalkyl, wie beispielsweise Hydroxyethyl, Hydroxypropyl und Hydroxybutyl. Beispiele für geeignete sekundäre Amine mit Formel (II) sind Methylhydroxyethylamin, Ethylhydroxyethylamin, Methylhydroxypropylamin und Ethylhydroxypropylamin. Insbesondere Diethanolamin und Diisopropanolamin werden bevorzugt.
- Die Wahl des Alkylenoxids beeinflußt den HLB-Wert des während der Umsetzung gebildeten tertiären Alkanolamins und ein höheres Alkylenoxid wird möglicherweise bevorzugt, wenn ein tertiäres Alkanolamin mit einem hydrophoberen und oberflächenaktiveren Charakter gewünscht wird. Normalerweise weist das eingesetzte Alkylenoxid 2 - 4 Kohlenstoffatome auf. Obwohl Ethylenoxid ohne weiteres mit dem sekundären Amin reagiert, wurde überraschenderweise gefunden, daß Propylenoxid und höhere Alkylenoxide mit einer höheren Selektivität bezüglich dem an das Stickstoffatom in dem sekundären Amin gebundenen Wasserstoffatom reagieren, was zu einem geringeren Grad an Nebenreaktionen wie Propoxylierung von Hydroxylgruppen in dem sekundären oder tertiären Amin oder Veresterung führt.
- Die erfindungsgemäße Amid-Produktmischung, die durch das oben beschriebene Verfahren erhältlich ist und eine kleinere Menge an tertiärem Alkanolamin enthält, weist sehr vorteilhafte Eigenschaften auf. So haben Anwendungstests klar gezeigt, daß die erfindungsgemäße Amid-Produktmischung für die Verwendung als Komponente in kosmetischen Formulierungen wie beispielsweise Shampoos und Cremes; Schaumreinigungszusammensetzungen, z.B. für Textilien und Automobile; und wäßrigen funktionellen Fluiden wie beispielsweise Schmiermitteln, Metallbearbeitungsfluiden und hydraulischen Fluiden, sehr geeignet ist. Der Gehalt an tertiären Aminen in der Amid-Produktmischung trägt zu verbesserten Korrosionsinhibierungs- und Schaumbildungseigenschaften bei. Wenn die Amid-Produktmischung in wäßrigen funktionellen Fluiden eingesetzt wird, basiert das Monocarbonsäureamid der Formel (I) normalerweise auf einer Monocarbonsäure, die 14 - 22 Kohlenstoffatome enthält, während bei Verwendung in kosmetischen Formulierungen und Schaumreinigungszusammensetzungen Monocarbonsäureamide auf der Basis von Carbonsäuren mit 8 - 13 Kohlenstoffatomen normalerweise bevorzugt werden.
- Die vorliegende Erfindung wird durch die folgenden Beispiele weiter veranschaulicht.
- Eine Amid-Produktmischung, die etwa 92 Gew.-% der Verbindung RCON(C&sub2;H&sub4;OH)&sub2;, in welcher RCO von Kokosnuß-Fettsäure abgeleitet ist, und 5,8 Gew.-% Diethanolamin enthielt, wurde als Ausgangsmaterial eingesetzt. Die Amid-Produktmischung wurde durch Umsetzung des Methylesters von Kokosnuß-Fettsäure mit Diethanolamin erhalten. Eine Menge von 950 g der Amid-Produktmischung wurde einem Druckreaktor zugegeben, worauf 26,2 g Ethylenoxid oder 33 g Propylenoxid allmählich zugegeben wurden und eine Alkoxylierungs-Reaktion bei einer kontrollierten Temperatur von 55ºC in Abwesenheit von jeglichem Alkoxylierungs-Katalysator stattfand. Nach Ende der Umsetzung wurde die Reaktionsmischung abgekühlt und analysiert. Der in der Reaktionsmischung gefundene Diethanolamin-Gehalt wurde zu weniger als 0,5 Gew.-% (Ethoxylierung) bzw. weniger als 0,3 Gew.-% (Propoxylierung) bestimmt. Der Gehalt an Carbonsäureamid-Verbindung betrug in beiden Fällen etwa 89,50%, was anzeigt, daß unerwünschte Veresterungsreaktionen auf einem niedrigen Niveau gehalten werden.
- Die in den Beispielen 1 - 2 erhaltenen Amid-Produktmischungen wurden hinsichtlich ihrer Wirkungen auf die Eisenkorrosion gemäß dem Korrosionstest des Institute of Petroleum, IP 287, getestet. Die Produktmischungen wurden in Mengen von 1, 2 oder 3 Gew.-% in weichem Wasser (1,2º dH) gelöst und der pH-Wert wurde mit verdünnter Essigsäure auf 9,9 eingestellt. - Aus den Ergebnissen ist klar ersichtlich, daß die erfindungsgemäßen, alkoxyliertes Amid enthaltenden Produkte im Vergleich zum nicht alkoxylierten Bezug überlegene korrosionsinhibierende Eigenschaften aufweisen.
- Die ethoxylierte Amid-Produktmischung gemäß Beispiel 1 wurde in einer Menge von 25 mg zusammen mit 250 mg Natriumlaurylsulfat in 200 g Wasser mit einer Gesamt-Härte von 10º dH oder 20º dH gelöst. Der pH-Wert wurde auf 7 eingestellt. Die Schaumbildungsfähigkeit der Formulierungen wurde dann gemäß dem Schaumtest des Institute of Petroleum, IP 312, beurteilt. - Aus den Ergebnissen ist klar ersichtlich, daß das erfindungsgemäße Produkt in vorteilhafter Weise die herkömmlichen nicht-alkoxylierten Amid-Produktmischungen in kosmetischen Produkten und Schaumreinigungszusammensetzungen ersetzen kann.
- Eine Amid-Produktmischung, die etwa 71 Gew.-% der Verbindung RCON(C&sub2;H&sub4;OH)&sub2;, worin RCO von einer 1:1-Mischung (auf Gewichtsbasis) von C&sub1;&sub6;- und C&sub1;&sub8;-Fettsäuren abgeleitet ist, und etwa 25 Gew.-% Diethanolamin enthielt, wurde als Ausgangsmaterial eingesetzt. Die Amid-Mischung wurde durch Umsetzung der Fettsäure-Mischung mit Diethanolamin erhalten.
- Eine Menge von 818 g der Amid-Produktmischung wurde einem Druckreaktor zugesetzt, gefolgt von der allmählichen Zugabe von 100 g Ethylenoxid, 130 g Propylenoxid oder 159 g Butylenoxid, worauf die Alkoxylierung in Abwesenheit von jeglichem Alkoxylierungs-Katalysator bei 60ºC durchgeführt wurde. Nach Beendigung der Umsetzung wurde die Produktmischung abgekühlt und analysiert. Der Gehalt an Diethanolamin wurde zu weniger als 0,9% (Ethoxylierung), 0,6% (Propoxylierung) und 0,6% (Butoxylierung) bestimmt.
- Halbsynthetische Schneidfluid-Konzentrate wurden aus den folgenden Komponenten formuliert. TABELLE 3 Material Fluid Monoethanolamin Triethanolamin Borsäure Wasser Alkylenglykol Wasserlösliches Dispergiermittel Kupfer-Inhibitor Paraffinisches Mineralöl Tallöl-Fettsäure (destilliert) Ethoxylierte Erdnuß-Fettsäureamid-Mischung Propoxylierte Erdnuß-Fettsäureamid-Mischung Butoxylierte Erdnuß-Fettsäureamid-Mischung Kuppler vom Alkohol-Typ
- Die Konzentrate wurden dann gemäß Tabelle 3 mit Wasser verdünnt und dann hinsichtlich Korrosion und Schaumbildung auf dieselbe Weise wie in den Beispielen 3 bzw. 5 getestet. - Die Ergebnisse zeigen, daß es möglich ist, Schneidfluide mit guten korrosionsinhibierenden Wirkungen und niedrigen anfänglichen Höhen des Schaums, der beim Stehenlassen schnell zusammenbricht, zu formulieren.
- Beispiel 1 wurde wiederholt, aber 1,016 g an Amid-Produktmischung, die 67 Gew.-% RCON(C&sub2;H&sub4;OH)&sub2;, worin RCO von Erdnuß-Fettsäure abgeleitet ist, und 29 Gew.-% Diethanolamin enthielt, wurden als Ausgangsmaterial eingesetzt. Die Zugabe von Ethylenoxid betrug 135 g. Nach der Ethoxylierung betrug der Diethanolamin-Gehalt weniger als 0,6 Gew.-%.
- Metall-Bearbeitungsfluide vom Mikroemulsions-Typ wurden gemäß den folgenden Formulierungen hergestellt. TABELLE 6 Material Fluid Paraffinisches Mineralöl Natrium-Petroleumsulfonate Tallöl-Fettsäuren (destilliert) Erdnuß-Fettsäurediethanolamid-Mischung 1/ Ethoxylierte Erdnuß-Fettsäureamid-Mischung /2 Kaliumhydroxid (50%) Triethanolamin Calcium-Petroleumsulfonate Biozid Glycolether-Kuplungsmittel Kupfer-Inhibitor-Lösung 1/ Ausgangsmaterial in Beispiel 12 2/ Gemäß Beispiel 12.
- Die Formulierungen wurden in 200 ppm (als CaCO&sub3;) hartem Wasser hinsichtlich ihrer Fähigkeit, die Eisenkorrosion zu verhindern, auf die in Beispiel 3 beschriebene Art und Weise getestet und ihre Schaumbildung wurde gemäß dem VSI-Schaumtest-Verfahren bestimmt. - Aus den Testergebnissen ist klar ersichtlich, daß die Formulierung, die die ethoxylierte Amid-Produktmischung enthält (Fluid E) im Vergleich zur Formulierung, die die nicht-ethoxylierte Amid-Produktmischung enthält, überlegen ist.
Claims (10)
1. Verfahren zur Herstellung einer Amid-Produktmischung,
enthaltend einen größeren Teil eines Carbonsäureamids mit
der Formel
worin R eine aliphatische Kohlenwasserstoffgruppe mit 7
- 23 Kohlenstoffatomen ist, R&sub1; und R&sub2; unabhängig
voneinander eine Alkylgruppe mit 1-8 Kohlenstoffatomen oder
eine Hydroxyalkylgruppe mit 2-8 Kohlenstoffatomen
darstellen; und weniger als 1 Gewichts-% eines sekundären
Amins mit der Formel
worin R&sub1; und R&sub2; die oben erwähnte Bedeutung aufweisen;
aus einer Amid-Produktmischung, die einen größeren Teil
eines Carbonsäureamids mit der Formel (I) und mehr als
1 Gewichts-% eines sekundären Amins mit der Formel (II)
enthält, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß die
Amid-Produktmischung mit einem Gehalt von mehr als 1 Gewichts-% des
sekundären Amins (II) mit einem aliphatischen Alkylenoxid
mit 2 - 8 Kohlenstoffatomen in der Abwesenheit einer
wesentlichen Menge irgendeines
Alkoxylierungs-Katalysators alkoxyliert wird, bis der Gehalt des sekundären
Amins weniger als 1 Gewichts-% beträgt.
2. Verfahren nach Anspruch 1, in welchem das sekundäre Amin
Diethanolamin ist.
3. Verfahren nach irgendeinem der Ansprüche 1 - 2, in
welchem das Alkylenoxid Ethylenoxid oder Propylenoxid
ist.
4. Verfahren nach irgendeinem der Ansprüche 1 - 3, in
welchem die Amid-Produktmischung erhalten wird durch
Umsetzung einer Carbonsäure mit der Formel RCOOH, in
welcher R die oben erwähnte Bedeutung aufweist, oder
eines Salzes oder eines Alkylesters davon mit dem
sekundären Amin mit der Formel (II).
5. Verfahren nach Anspruch 4, in welchem der Alkylester ein
Methylester ist.
6. Verfahren nach irgendeinem der Ansprüche 1 - 5, welches
bei einer Temperatur unterhalb 100ºC, vorzugsweise
unterhalb 80ºC und am meisten bevorzugt unterhalb 60ºC
durchgeführt wird.
7. Amid-Produktmischung, erhältlich durch irgendeinen der
obigen Verfahrensansprüche 1 - 6 und enthaltend einen
größeren Teil eines Carbonsäureamids mit der Formel
worin R eine aliphatische Kohlenwasserstoffgruppe mit 7
- 23 Kohlenstoffatomen ist, R&sub1; und R&sub2; unabhängig
voneinander eine Alkylgruppe mit 1 - 8 Kohlenstoffatomen oder
eine Hydroxyalkylgruppe mit 2 - 8 Kohlenstoffatomen
darstellen, eine kleinere Menge eines tertiären
Alkanolamins und weniger als 1 Gewichts-% eines sekundären Amins
mit der Formel HNR&sub1;R&sub2;, worin R&sub1; und R&sub2; die oben erwähnte
Bedeutung aufweisen.
8. Verwendung einer Carbonsäureamid-Produktmischung gemäß
Anspruch 7 in kosmetischen Formulierungen,
Schaum-Reinigungszusammensetzungen und funktionalen Fluiden.
9. Verwendung in wäßrigen industriellen Fluiden gemäß
Anspruch 8, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß die Gruppe R im
Carbonsäureamid 13 - 21 Kohlenstoffatome enthält.
10. Verwendung in kosmetischen Formulierungen oder Schaum-
Reinigungszusammensetzungen gemäß Anspruch 8, dadurch
gekennzeichnet, daß die Gruppe R in dem Carbonsäureamid
7 - 12 Kohlenstoffatome enthält.
