Description
Process for the production of protective coatings on iron moldings It. is known to protect iron from rust in such a way that - this after the Shaping is carried out through a hot linseed oil bath.
Man erhitzt. z. According to the method according to the invention, the iron molding to be treated becomes immediately after leaving the hot linseed oil bath through a room in which using a blower Portland 'dust in a thin layer and then blown linseed oil is also sprayed on in a thin layer by means of a second blower. The maintenance of a certain temperature of the linseed oil bath is important Process according to the invention does not apply. One heats up. z. B. the oil bath on temperatures from about 70 to 100 °. After the linseed oil has been sprayed on, the iron form is in a drying oven to a higher temperature, e.g. B. 5oo °, heated. The so produced, A coating which adheres extremely firmly to the iron molding gives the molding a hard, smooth surface protected against the influence of atmospheric air. The protective effect according to the method of the invention is considerably larger than that by simply applying achievable from linseed oil on iron.
