Description

Nachdichtmitteln behandelt, zu denen u. a. Process for treating oxide layers or layers with therein produced photographic images - on light metals Those on light metals, in particular on aluminum, by electrical or chemical means containing oxides In many cases, layers are not yet dense enough for the purpose of corrosion protection. You will be. therefore often treated with so-called post-sealing agents in practice, to which i.a. Water and the solutions of metal salts, e.g. B. the acetates of cobalt and Nickel, count. The indicated re-sealing methods correspond with respect to the Use of water does not meet all the requirements that are made in practice and are relatively expensive in terms of the use of metal salts, with the metal content of the solutions used for the sealing Possibility of contamination of the oxide layer. The effect of the used Metal salts, e.g. B. the cobalt-nickel acetates, is attributed to the fact that they are hydrolytically cleaved and the metal hydroxide in question, e.g. B. Cobalt or nickel hydroxide.

It is known, concentrated Schivefels, acid, z. B. 6o to 8o% Sulfuric acid, to be used for cleaning oxide layers, d. H. Impurities of the most varied kinds, produced by the layer, above all else remain in their pores, remove from it. Any after-sealing effect at the oxidic layers are therefore not reached with concentrated sulfuric acid.

Surprisingly, it was found that very dilute sulfuric acid showed a good after-sealing effect when applied to oxide layers. This acid in strong dilution is of course more oxidic when used for re-sealing Layers are considerably cheaper than the metal salts used for the same purpose and does not contaminate the oxidic layer in any way.

In the inventive treatment of oxide layers in which on photographic means of producing images is also very inexpensive prevents the photo from fading out. This fading out of photographic images in oxide layers of light metals there is residual amounts of rhodanide or Attributed to thiosulfate. The substances mentioned are used in the photographic Processes mainly used as fixing solutions and clay baths. the treatment according to the new process now has the special effect of removing these remaining rhodanide or to destroy amounts of thiosulphate and thus to create permanent photographic images. witness.

The fact that even highly dilute sulfuric acid, in particular an acid with a pH of q. to 6, has these beneficial effects; led to the assumption that perhaps not in this highly diluted form sulfuric acid present, but the water in solution itself exercises the re-sealing. However, this assumption is erroneous, as follows from the fact that only that according to the invention Method has the special effect of preventing photo images from being blown out has, which especially when using water as a post-sealing agent does not the case is.
