Description

Process for removing organic nitrogen bases or phenols from wastewater The invention relates to a process for removing organic nitrogen bases or phenols from wastewater by treatment with water-insoluble solvents. Wastewater from chemical reactions in which organic nitrogen bases or phenols have been converted often contain more or less of these substances. According to the legal provisions for keeping water bodies clean, it is necessary to keep the content of discharged substances as low as possible. It is Z. B. possible to remove organic nitrogen bases from the wastewater by distillation. However, this method has the disadvantage that it is very expensive. According to another method it is possible, for. B. to remove aniline from the wastewater by salting out and subsequent decanting. However, this procedure does not succeed in removing all of the aniline from the wastewater, and the process also has the disadvantage that large amounts of salts get into the wastewater. are introduced into the pipes from below, whereby they are then deposited and withdrawn at the top. The organic nitrogen bases or phenols can be isolated again from the solutions in which they are enriched. The parts given in the following examples are parts by weight. EXAMPLE 1 3500 liters per hour of waste water containing 3.2% by weight of aniline are passed through a first reaction tower with a capacity of 3500 liters in the lower quarter. At the same time, 20,000 1 o-dichlorobenzene per hour is introduced from above in finely divided form. The treated wastewater, with an aniline content of 0.01% by weight, flows off at the top. The o-dichlorobenzene which has collected is continuously drawn off from the bottom of the first reaction tower and finely divided at the top of a second 3,600 liter reaction tower, 300 liters of 20% strength by weight hydrochloric acid flowing in from below every hour. The o-dichlorobenzene that collects at the bottom of the second reaction tower is given up again at the top of the first tower. After adding sodium hydroxide solution, the aniline is recovered from the aniline chlorohydrate solution flowing off. Example 2 The procedure described in Example 1 is followed and the first reaction tower is charged every hour with 3,500 liters of waste water containing 0.9% by weight cresols, while the second reaction tower is charged every hour with 250 liters of 5% strength by weight sodium hydroxide solution. The waste water flowing off has a cresol content of 0.05 to 0.06% by weight.
