Description

Process for tempering glass, glazes and enamels In your patent 644 097 describes a method according to which the chemical resistance of glass, glazes and enamels is improved by using the thin Melting water vapor incorporated what z. B. already when the raw materials are melted down can happen. It was pointed out that one must then see to it that that the water vapor does not diffuse out again during the further treatment of the melt. Without appropriate precautions, the water vapor would last for a relatively long time Geit, during the z. B. a glass melt in the refining or standing zone in relative liquid state is, easily escape. But also during When the melt is processed by molding, the toughness does not increase so suddenly suggests that at least some of the water vapor will not diffuse out were. Surprisingly, however, it was found that it is not necessary to carry out processing or to cool the melts in an atmosphere that is particularly rich in water vapor; the compensation described in the above patent was obtained in full if man- the melts in normal air or in another atmosphere free of steam processed or cooled.
