wird und daß ein Druck von 7 6o mm Hg .die Zündzeit der Blitzlichtlampen herabsetzt;
Flash lamp in the manufacture of primarily for photographic
Purpose-serving flashlight lamps in which to generate actinically effective light
a highly flammable wire-shaped or foil-shaped light developer in one
is housed closed, oxygen-containing vessel, one has so far in practice
mostly gas pressures of about 1/4 to l / 3 atm. used. The one to burn the light generator
The required amount of oxygen was usually in the form of an incandescent lamp, pear-shaped
or spherical glass vessels with a capacity of 100, zoo and more
Cubic centimeters. When using higher pressures one feared the danger
that the glass vessels would crack. It has been pointed out occasionally
that increasing the oxygen pressure increases the rate of combustion
and that a pressure of 76o mm Hg. reduces the ignition time of the flashlight lamps;
but because of the previous inability to avert the danger of explosion, have
Flash lamps with such prints were practically never introduced.
auftretenden inneren
Lberdruck bedeutend größer ist als der von.
Gefäßen der bisher üblichen Größen.
einer größeren Reihe von Versuchen,
denen Blitzlichtlampen verschiedener Gefai
größere und verschiedenen Fülldruckes ab'A
The invention is based on the knowledge that a high oxygen pressure in the combustion chamber not only shortens the ignition time, but also provides a considerably better light yield than a lower pressure and that such a higher pressure can only be used when smaller vessels than previously usual be used because of their resistance to the internal during the explosion Pressure is significantly greater than that of.

a larger series of attempts
which flash lamps of various vessels

were fired, the following general physical issues arose, which were neither previously known nor taken into account in the manufacture of flash lamps.
Milligramm das Verhältnis i : i nicht überschreitet.
The actinic effect of a certain amount of the light developer is
the greater the faster it can be completely burned. Apparently
This is due to the fact that with very rapid burns the bodies actinic at very high levels
effective temperatures can be brought up while at slower combustion
the. Energy release through radiation during the process itself the achievement
extreme temperatures. A filling of about, but has atmospheric pressure
the effect, not just the ignition, but also the combustion process itself
to accelerate. According to the invention it was found that when -an oxygen filling
of about 76o mm Hg and more occurring explosion pressures for practical use
the flashlight lamp are harmless if you also use vessels whose
Volume expressed in cubic centimeters for the weight of the light developer in
Milligrams does not exceed the ratio i: i. So the vessel may at most
hold as many cubic centimeters as the light developer weighs in milligrams. Particularly
The use of cylindrical or almost cylindrical lamp vessels is favorable,
since vessels of this shape are known to have particularly high strength.
An expedient embodiment of one designed according to the invention
Flashlight lamp for electric ignition is shown in the drawing below.

If an easily flammable wad of foil or an easily flammable ball of wire, for example 80: mg weight, is to be accommodated in the lamp vessel, then so. would have to be cylindrical ;, Aryan vessel to be twice as long or at
