Four-stroke internal combustion engine with a front, air-compressing engine
Charge pump and an outlet control body The most important requirements for a modern
Internal combustion engine, e.g. B. an aircraft engine, operational safety and low weight,
are achieved according to the present invention in that valves are avoided
and that an exhaust control body enables the degree of loading of the engine to be increased
To regulate boundaries at will.
The well-known construction methods, which have the same purpose with partly similar ones
Tried to achieve means, left the engine alternately in two-stroke and four-stroke
work. It would also be suggested that the engine should run through the two-stroke cycle
Completion of the exhaust too overloaded. However, these procedures are not gradual
To achieve transition. With these and similar versions, there is no possibility of
to regulate the degree of overload at will, but what, for example, when using
of the engine in different air densities is required. The present engine
avoids these inconveniences by always working in four-stroke and that the
in front of the outlet for a gradual change in the degree of overload
can be regulated within wide limits.
Figs. I and 2 schematically show the engine in section. i is the cylinder, 2 the piston, which is provided with the deflection lug 3 as in the two-stroke engine. 4 is the inlet opening of the overflow channel 5. Ausz2 is 6. In front of this is the rotary valve 7, to which the collecting pipe 8 is connected. 9 is the collecting pipe for the intake air, which penetrates through the openings io into the space of the motor housing ii when the piston is in .oberen dead center. The slide 7 is driven by the spur gears 12, 13, 14, the teeth of which are inclined. The wheel 12 is driven by the motor and drives the rotary valve 7 in a ratio of 1: 4 to the motor shaft. If the wheel 14 is shifted in the direction of its axis of rotation, the degree of advance or lag of the rotary slide is changed. This phase shift can of course also be achieved in other ways, e.g. B. with non-displaceable gears by shifting .einer intermediate sleeve with high helix thread. In the web of the overflow opening sits a Z, spray nozzle: e 1 5, to which the fuel is expediently fed through a pump.
in das Gehäuse i i.
The motor works as follows: When the piston 2 moves

As the piston moves upwards, the air above the piston is compressed. In top dead center
the piston 2 exposes the inlet opening io again, and air flows under the piston
into the housing i i. During the following downward movement of the piston, the overstretched

At the bottom dead center, the piston exposes the outlet opening 6 again. Depending on the position
of the rotary valve 7, any overpressure can completely or partially escape
or persist. The air pre-compressed in the housing now flows through the overflow duct

Position of the wheel 1 4th such. that the rotary valve 7 in this case the outlet completely
closes, the injected mixture results in a considerable overpressure in the cylinder,
so an overload of the engine. If you want to avoid or reduce this overload,
so one sets the wheel 14 and thus the advance angle of the rotary valve; so,
that during the Lberströmens all or part of the air in the cylinder
is pushed out to the exhaust. Instead of the rotary valve; can of course also
a flat slide can be used, its adjustment for the purpose of regulating the

Exhaust can flow through it unhindered without hitting a bridge.
The present engine works accordingly in the valveless four-stroke. Of the
Rotary valve 7 has to be sealed only very slightly overpressure and only in the event that
in which the engine works with overload. The lack of valves increases operational reliability
of the engine and its economic efficiency, since overhaul work in considerably larger
Spaces are required. In addition, there is the advantage of the flush cycle through which
the proportion of combustion residues in the mixture is lower @vird. The intermediate measure
also cools the combustion agent with the spark plug. As the case and the piston
can also be cooled by the purge air, the degree of compression and thus the
The efficiency of the engine can be increased. The other advantage of the present engine
is its ability to be overcharged without a special fan. The type of fuel supply
also allows the use of heavy fuels. The regulation of the engine can
by throttling the intake air or better by regulating the amount of fuel.
By setting the slider accordingly, it is easy to: \ nfit the
respective overpressure to the amount of fuel supplied and evenly cheaper
Fuel consumption even with partial engine load.
