Air-flushed carburetor two-stroke internal combustion engine To avoid
Scavenging losses in two-stroke internal combustion engines with crankcase charge pumps is proposed
has been to precompress air by the charge pump, part of it for flushing
to use the cylinder, to pass the rest of the air through a carburetor and,
mixed with fuel, through .a valve on the cylinder head after completion of the
Also introduce rinsing into the cylinder. These suggestions were useless
because no provision was made to distribute the two as required. Air volumes
to reach. As a result, almost all of the machine would run at low speed
Air volume from the housing pump go through the first exposed flushing slots,
and if the inlet valve on the cylinder head is opened, it will not be sufficient
More pressure in the housing. to get enough fuel out of the carburetor nozzle
to be carried away. At high speeds, on the other hand, the amount of purge air will be too small
in relation to the mixture causing, so that the formation of a charge

The drawing represents in Fig. I a vertical

, in Fig. 2 a. horizontal section through the cylinder head, while Fig.
Figure 3 shows a vertical section through a machine of somewhat different design.
In Abb. i ist der Kolben i in seiner unteren Totpunktlage dargestellt,
In Fig. I, the piston i is shown in its bottom dead center position,
the flushing slots 22 and the outlet slots 5 being completely exposed.
The air pre-compressed in the crankcase can now pass through several scavenging slots
22 flow into the cylinder, the individual rinsing jets in known
Combine way to a collecting flow rising to the cylinder head. Above will
the current is directed downwards again, as indicated by the directional arrows.
The air entered the crankcase through an attached to the middle section of the housing
and the duct leading to the nozzle 2o. Inside the channel opens into an opening
17 of the vertical center wall of the housing in both housings. Before each page
the housing wall rotates a round crank disk 14 with a very small distance,
on which in the usual way the crank pin 16 and opposite a counterweight
is appropriate. The crank disc has a large recess on the left
15 on, and if at. Turn the crankshaft through this opening in front of the outlet
17 of the intake duct comes, air is drawn in while the piston goes up at the same time
sucked the crankcase in question. The suction channel is from point b of the
drawn crank circle is exposed up to point d. This is a far more advantageous one
Suction control achieved than by the usual control of the suction slots
through the piston trailing edge. After the opening 17 is closed again, the ins
Air sucked into the crankcase is compressed in it. A duct leads from the crankcase
13 to a light plate valve 12, and if a certain compression pressure in the
Housing is reached: it lifts valve plate i-- and part flows
the pre-compressed air in the housing through the channel i i into an enlarged chamber
i o, into which an identical channel from the second crankcase also opens.
The chamber is connected at the top to a carburetor 6 by a pipe 9.
This has a fuel nozzle 8 and a throttle valve 7. Behind the carburetor
divides, as indicated by dotted lines in Fig. 2, the line that under each one
Valve 4 leads, which is mounted m a side chamber 3 of the cylinder head. Above
the valve 4 is a spark plug 21. The pre-compressed into the chamber i o
Air initially collects in it until valve q. is opened. this
happens soon after the crank 16 reaches the bottom dead center drawn
has, the attached to the crankshaft cam 18 against the double-armed
Press lever i9, which lifts the valve. The stored one now flows out of the chamber i o
pre-compressed air through the carburetor 6 and the open valve 4. into the side chamber
3 of the cylinder head, and there is the more fuel from the nozzle 8 of
entrained in the air flow and guided through the cylinder, the more the throttle valve
is open and lets air through. The float housing of the carburetor must match the
Air metering 9 connected to keep the fuel under the pre-compression air pressure
stands. The nozzle 8 has a large bore in relation to the small carburetor passage,
so that the fuel-air mixture gets through the valve [and channel 3] into the cylinder
is excessively greasy. The peak of the incoming mixture flow hits the in
Direction of arrow in the cylinder rotating flow of purge air and mixes with it
him. When the crank the. Point b of the crank circle is reached, the scavenging slots
closed again by the rising piston and also the outlet slots in point c.
At about the same time or a little later, the cam 18 has also moved this far
turned so that the pressure on the lever i9 ceases and the pressure on the valve stem
The coil spring closes valve 4 again. But then the one supplying the mixture remains
Chamber 3 of the cylinder head filled with fresh mixture, and if now the charge
is compressed in the cylinder until the ignition spark is skipped, a
Part of the cylinder content is pushed into the side chamber, but is still
due to the over-greased mixture on the spark plug sitting here, an ignitable one
Mixture also be present when the engine is idling with strong throttling
the storage air runs and only a small amount of the mixture gets into the Kana13. Keeping up
a pure and therefore ignitable mixture on the spark plug results in a large
Improvement of the known very poor two-stroke idle.
38 in Verbindung steht.
Once the candle has been ignited, it will be in the
Side chamber 3 burning mixture under strong pressure increase in the main mass
The cargo is thrown into it, and those in it are also burned
Fuel parts that would otherwise not have been ignitable by the ignition spark alone
would be.
In the machine shown in Fig. 3 happens
controlling the air intake also through before the intake. canal outlets
44 rotating crank disks 40, whereby the suction into the housing takes place when the
Opening 41 in the crank disk is located in front of the intake duct opening 44.
The controlling crank disks also have a second opening 43, and
if this is in front of the opening 39, pre-compressed air can escape from the crankcase
flow into the dotted channel with a tubular container
38 communicates. Both the opening 39 and the suction opening
44 go through the entire wall thickness of the middle section and connect the two
Housing chambers with each other. A pipe 37 leads from the container 38 to a carburetor
34, which has a nozzle 36 and a throttle valve 35. A canal leads further,
which branches to the two valves 32, which in a funnel-shaped
Bulge 31 of the cylinder head sit. The spark plug 49 is also arranged in this.
The valves 32, one in each cylinder head, are connected to earth by push rods .18
operated by two double-armed levers 33 and 46, which are driven by cams
45 obtained, which are mounted on the crankshaft. Again, after crossing it
of the bottom dead center, the Venti132 opens, and the air flows out of the memory 38
through the carburetor 34, entraining fuel, into the air-scavenged cylinder,
again a strong fuel enrichment in the .Xus bulge 31 of the cylinder head,
so also on the spark plug.
The valve on the cylinder head has the particular task of timing
to be able to carry out the fuel introduction in such a way that it does not take place too early,
because otherwise there will still be fuel losses due to being carried away into the exhaust line
would. The valve closure is expediently only carried out after the outlet slots have been closed,
so that an overload of the cylinder can be achieved, especially if
the performance of the crankcase pump has been increased by some means
is. This increases the pressure and with a corresponding enlargement of the air reservoir
also the amount of air stored.
The engine running can be regulated by the throttle valve on the carburetor

the amount of air sucked in at the same time in the same ratio the amount of
