Process for the production of polyalcohols from carbohydrates Es
is known, polyalcohols of the aliphatic series by catalytic reduction of
Manufacture types of sugar. One has either with finely divided platinum
strong alkaline reaction or weak alkaline reaction, namely at
a pH value between 7 and 12, worked with catalysts made of base metals.
Verfahren leicht auftritt. It has also already been suggested that the reaction be pure
to carry out aqueous solution by means of specially activated metallic catalysts,
in order to shorten the reaction time and thereby the premature decomposition
to prevent the sensitive sugars which work in the alkaline medium
Procedure occurs easily.
It would now be found that the acidic reaction masses that one
in the production of sugars by hydrolysis of polymeric carbohydrates
in concentrated solution, such as. B. starch, inulin and the like. Obtained without dulling
or further purification directly from the catalytic hydrotreatment under pressure
and at temperatures not substantially exceeding 150 '
and at the same time in very short reaction times and with the application of the highest concentration
Solutions of the corresponding polyalcohols in very good yield and high purity
receives. In this way, it is possible to remove the high polymer in one operation
Carbohydrate, such as starch, inulin, etc., to get directly to the polyalcohols,
while up to now it has been considered necessary to isolate the sugars first, all in one
suitable medium preferably alkaline reaction to dissolve and only then the
subject to catalytic hydrogenation. If one goes from cellulose or cellulose-containing
Materials made from known to be used for hydrolysis of 'highly concentrated
If you need hydrochloric acid or concentrated sulfuric acid, it is advantageous to use the
acidic hydrolyzate to partially blunt before adding the catalyst, which is advantageous
can be done by means of carbonate of lime.
Atni. steigt. Dann wird der Überdruck abgelassen. Die erhaltene Reaktionsmasse übt
keine Reduktionswirkung auf Fehlingsche Lösung mehr aus. Der entstandene Sorbit
kann über die Dibenzalverbindung isoliert werden. The usual fat hardening catalysts or the catalysts proposed for the production of methanol by the catalytic reduction of carbon oxide can be used as catalysts. Very suitable as a catalyst is, for. B. nickel on its own or in combination with other metals, e.g. B. Chromium. Such a catalyst can e.g. B. be prepared as follows: 150 g of nickel nitrate and 12.5 g of chrome alum are dissolved in cold distilled water and 150 g of kieselguhr are stirred in. Then soda solution is added until the reaction is weakly alkaline, the precipitate is washed out, dried and in a stream of hydrogen. at 5oR °; reduced. Example 20 g of starch and q0 ccm of sulfuric acid and the mixture are placed in an autoclave Heated to 150 ° for about an hour, the pressure being 2 to 3 atm. increases. The autoclave is then opened and a nickel-chromium catalyst is added to the solution in such an amount that there are 10% nickel of the weight of the carbohydrate. The autoclave is then closed and hydrogen is used up to a pressure of 50 atm. pressed in. The mixture is then heated to 150 ° for 21 / ¢ hours, the pressure being reduced to about 60 atmospheres. increases. Then the overpressure is released. The reaction mass obtained no longer has a reducing effect on Fehling's solution. The resulting sorbitol can be isolated via the dibenzal compound.
