Description
Process for the production of pressed bodies The subject of the invention is a process for the production of compacts from curable synthetic resin.
It is known in particular for the production of synthetic resin molded bodies Use wood flour or asbestos as a filler. Aucli has already been suggested To use clay as a filler. It turns out, however, that clay can only be found in fired Condition is usable, since unbaked, only dried clays cause the disadvantage, that the compacts produced with it stick to the molds and easily absorb water. The fired clays are, however, not very useful for the production of cheap pressed articles economically.
It has now been found that you can also use unfired, only dried Clay can be used as a filler for synthetic resin compacts if the mixture of air-dry clay and hardenable synthetic resin some wood oil, to which a very small amount Iodine is added, admits. It is true. known, the Kunstharzpreßmischungen substances with a lubricating effect, such as B. oils, waxes, fatty acid salts, etc., add, to prevent the compacts from sticking to the molds. With this one Process is not only prevented from sticking of the pressed body, but @es is also due to the polymerisation of the wood oil as a result of the addition of iodine the oily shell of the pressed body solidifies and so the body in its properties improved, in particular its water absorption significantly reduced. This is especially important in the manufacture of electrical insulation bodies. Further the elasticity of the pressed body is increased. For example, one mixes 8o Parts by weight of powdered air-dry clay with 18 parts by weight of powdered hardenable phenol aldehyde resin and z parts by weight of wood oil with a few drops of iodine tincture are added. To do this, add about 3 pots of iodine tincture to 10 cc of wood oil (r: zo). The mixture is hot-pressed in the usual way.
