1877. J. G. SCHMIDT in BERLIN. Dampfkessel mit Hochdruck-Wasserbehälter. Patentirt im Deutschen Reiche vom 21. August 1877 ab. Längste Dauer: 9. Juli 1891. J. G. SCHMIDT in BERLIN. Steam boiler with high pressure water tank. Patented in the German Empire on August 21, 1877. Longest duration: July 9th, 1891. To produce completely dry steam, the inventor designed a tubular steam boiler with a special high-pressure water tank and, for the best possible use of the fire, applied the principle of the countercurrent of water and fire, because the existing tubular boilers meet these conditions not enough. The water passes through the feed pump through the mouthpiece A into the water container B until it is completely filled with water; the needle valve C is closed. The combustion system D is now heated. The fire runs upwards to the lid of the furnace, then follows the path of the drafts down the brick wall E and escapes into the chimney at F. As a result, the water container and the steam container are heated and pressure develops in the water container B immediately. Now the needle valve C is opened, the water presses the valve G open, gets into the steam tank and is immediately transformed into steam as a result of the lower pressure, while the remaining water, which collects in the lowest pipe of the steam tank H. , only evaporated here by the direct action of the fire. This steam developed here presses back on valve G, and since this is also still loaded, a correspondingly higher pressure will always have to be in the water space in order to lift valve G. If steam is now withdrawn from the steam container H, the pressure in it is reduced, and the valve G is relieved so much that fresh water can pass into the steam space H, and thus new steam development takes place. This process will continue as long as heat and water are added to the boiler and steam is withdrawn. A water level glass is attached to the steam container H in order to be able to observe that not too much water is formed in it, which is achieved by regulating the fire and the needle valve C. In addition, the necessary safety valves and pressure gauges are attached, as can be seen in the drawing. The following advantages result for this boiler:
The water is tightly enclosed in the water container B , and so little water is held in the steam container H that it is impossible for the outgoing steam to carry the water away with it.
The principle of countercurrent is first hereby due to the arrangement of the tube layers
transferred to tubular kettles, it being noted that the storage of the tubes is not always in
needs to be done in the same way.
