ausfraktionierten Teerölen enthaltenen Indens in unlösliche. Doppelverbindungen
enthielt.Process for the Extraction of Inden Die. Extraction of indene from tar oils has so far only succeeded indirectly, namely by converting the indene contained in appropriately fractionated tar oils into insoluble ones. Double compounds or in sodium indene. By separating the 051e accompanying the indene and not reacted from the conversion products of the indene and decomposing these compounds, the indene can be obtained in greater or lesser purity. The indene can be obtained in this way from an indene fraction from coal tar oils, for example with picric acid. or bring z - 3 - 5 -trinitrobenzöl in the form of double compounds to the separation. Another process is based on the conversion of the indene into a double compound with mercuric sulfate-mercuric dioxide. It is further. known, the Inden. by treatment 'with sodium amide or metallic sodium and ammonia or sodium - in the presence of organic bases in indene sodium and convert it in this form; to separate from the accompanying tar oils. Little is known about the purity of the indene qualities that can be obtained in this way. Only Wegeründ'Billmann state in the reports of Deutsche Chem. Ges., Volume 36, p. 64o (19o3), that the indene excreted from tar oils via the picrate was still about zo to 1711, on coumarones, about 5 ° 4- hydrind-containing fractions and also - contained other oxygen-containing bodies.
reiner Form gestattet.
Wirksamkeit. Das Rücklaufverhältnis wählt man beispielsweise I :5.
It has now been found that, despite the strong tendency of indene to form liquid eutectics, it is possible to obtain indene in pure form from tar oils only by crystallization and subsequent centrifugation. For this purpose the procedure is such that the distillation in the production of the indene-containing tar oil fraction is carried out in the same way. directs that the indene is enriched therein up to about 8o1 / 0. If an indene fraction prepared in this way is subjected to cooling to about -: 25 ', the indene crystallizes in spite of its extremely low melting point. despite the accompanying bodies contained in the fraction, such as coumarone, hydrindene, methyl coumarone and benzene hydrocarbons, and despite its pronounced tendency to give liquid eutectics with the accompanying substances, in a form that allows it to be obtained in chemically pure form without the aid of chemical measures. If the crystallized material is also spun off in an equally deeply cooled centrifuge, surprisingly an indene can be obtained therefrom which has a theoretical melting point of -2 ° and is therefore of chemical purity. "Embodiment A so-called neutral oil is used as the starting material, ie a tar oil freed from phenols, which starts to boil at normal pressure at about 72 ° and shows the following boiling behavior: up to 1 75 18o 1 8.5 190 194 1 95 1 97 0
10 43 73 86 90 93 9500.
This starting material is fractionally distilled in effective fractionation apparatus of any origin and construction, if necessary repeated, so that benzene hydrocarbons which are present in the forerun, which boil below indene, with little indene and in the aftermath if possible, benzene hydrocarbons which boil higher than indene, also with little Pass inden. One used to execute. distillation, for example, a fractionating column with 40 bubble-cap trays and dephlegmator or a sieve column filled with Raschig rings or a sieve column of corresponding effectiveness. The reflux ratio is chosen, for example, I: 5. The course of the distillation is checked by checking the individual fractions for their boiling point, specific weight and freezing point. The control of the freezing point alone is generally sufficient, as can be seen from the following: The first fractional distillation of the above raw material gives approximately 50 ° 10 of a fraction that shows the following boiling behavior: up to 1 75 178 179 18o 181 1 8a 1 83 184 1 870
5 a3 37 57 72 83 90 93 95%.
Such a fraction already has a freezing point of -30 °. If this fraction is subjected to another fractional distillation, about 160 [o a fraction of -40 ° freezing point with about 5001 indene content, about I30o of an indene fraction with a freezing point of -26 ° and an indene content of about 6211 "about 19 '/, an indene fraction with a freezing point of -I9.5 ° and an indene content of 711/0, about 100o of an indene fraction with a freezing point of -i7 ° and an indene content of 77.0 / 0, about: 21' /, one Indene fraction with a freezing point of -14 ° and an indene content of 8o00, an indene fraction with a freezing point of -2o ° and an indene content of 7000, about 4% of an indene fraction with a freezing point of = 30 ° and an indene content of 580 ° and I 5 ° f, backlog and loss.
etwa -25o unterworfen.
The indene fraction with 80 '/, indene content causes crystallization
subjected to about -25o. When spinning off, about 47% of a pure indene is obtained
from - z ° melting point. The remaining fractions can be fractionated again and then
can be used in the same way for the production of pure inks.
