Description
Yellow to red chrome paints It is known to produce yellow chrome paints, caused by mixed crystal formation of lead chromate and lead sulfate, whereby these mixed crystals are produced by joint precipitation of the components from solutions. Furthermore, barium sulfate is already available for blending chrome colors used.
It has now been found that yellow to scarlet chrome colors are obtained if mixed crystals are produced from the three components lead chromate, lead sulfate and lead molybdate. The preparation can be carried out by intimately mixing the individual components in a moist state; However, it is expedient to proceed in such a way that mixed crystal formation is carried out by precipitation of the components from common solution. Although the individual components are likely to be separate at first, they combine quickly to form the desired mixed crystals as a result of their thorough mixing. This process can be clearly followed by the change in color of the precipitate. For example, a dye with the composition 7 5 ei, Pb Cr 04, 20% Pb S 04 and 5% Pb Mo-04 initially turns out to be lemon yellow, but then turns out to be lemon yellow A bright, scarlet color takes on about 1 hour. Mixed crystals can also be formed by reacting lead compounds that are sparingly soluble in water with a solution which contains the anions in question.
The lead can be partially replaced by barium and in the mixed crystals or or partially replace strontium and lead molybdate with lead tungstate. The color of the products and, above all, their technical color properties can be changed so vary widely.
-- Beispiel i Farbstoff aus Mischkristallen der Zusammensetzung: Pb (Cro,,6 So,2Moo,os) O4.A particular advantage of the red and orange-colored products mentioned, in addition to the absence of lead oxide, is their extraordinary yield. The scarlet red dye described above has about ten times the opacity of the previously known chrome red of the composition Pb O # Pb Cr 04. - Example i Dye from mixed crystals of the composition: Pb (Cro ,, 6 So, 2Moo, os) O4 .
Prepare three lead nitrate solutions from 25 kg, 6.7 and 1.7 kg lead nitrate in 300, 150 and 50 liters of water. 24.2 kg of Pb Cr 04 (yellow), 6.0 kg of Pb S are precipitated from these solutions with solutions of 14.6 kg of potassium chromate, 2.9 kg of anhydrous sodium sulfate and 1 kg of ammonium molybdate in 300.150 or 50 liters of water 04 _ (white) and i, 8 kg Pb Mo 04 (white). The three precipitates are combined with intimate mixing and, after some time, a scarlet dye is obtained, which is filtered, washed and dried at 100 °.

Beispiel q. A solution of 9.7 kg of potassium chromate, 5.8 kg of sodium sulfate (anhydrous) and 1 kg of ammonium molybdate in 112 ml of water is added to a solution of 20 kg of lead nitrate and 10.5 kg of barium nitrate in% ms water. The immediately falling lemon-yellow precipitate, which is an intimate mixture of the components, becomes after standing for a short time. vermilion with solid solution formation. The work-up is carried out as in Example 1. Example 3 Dye from mixed crystals of the composition: Pb (Cro, 77s So, 2ao Moooas) 04. The dye is precipitated from a solution of iookg lead nitrate in 1.5 ms water by adding a solution of 7.7 kg of potassium chromate, 1.5 kg of ammonium molybdate and 8.7 kg of sodium sulfate (anhydrous) in 1.5M3 of water. The initially light yellow precipitate becomes somewhat darker when the precipitate has stopped forming. The dye is filtered off, washed well and dried at about 100 °. Example q.
