Process for the preparation of o-oxyazo dyes It has been found
that valuable o-oxyazo dyes can be obtained if sulfonic acid groups are used
- @containing o-aminophenols or i-amino-2-naphthols and diazotized with such
Coupling derivatives of monooxybenzene which are substituted in the p-position to the hydroxyl group
and contain no sulfonic acid, carboxyl or amino groups.
p-Kresol, p-Chlorphenol, p-Chlor-m-kresol (C H3 :OH : Cl = i : 3 : 6), 2
# 4-Dimethylphenol (as-m-Xylenol), 2 - 4. 5-Trimethylphenol (Pseudocumenol), ferner
p-Oxydiphenyhnethan u. dgl.As plhenols in the context of the invention, for example, p-cresol, p-chlorophenol, p-chloro-m-cresol (C H3 : OH: Cl = i: 3: 6), 2 # 4-dimethylphenol (as-m -Xylenol), 2-4, 5-trimethylphenol (pseudocumenol), also p-oxydiphenyhnethane and the like.
The new dyes are characterized by their high yield and; a
excellent leveling power. Your with metal salts, z. B. chromium or copper salts,
aftertreated dyeings on wool are of excellent fastness. depending on the
used o-oxydiazo compounds and phenols one gets red, purple, brown,
olive green and black tones.
Beispilel i 7o,2 Teile 4.-Nitro-2-anvn-ophenol6-sulfansäure

The new products can also be converted into valuable metal complex compounds with very good coloring properties by treatment with chromium- or copper-releasing agents. Example i 70, 2 parts of 4-nitro-2-anvn-ophenol6-sulfanic acid are diazotized in the usual way with 40 parts of hydrochloric acid of 19 ° B6 and 20.7 parts of sodium nitrite. The diazo solution is allowed to slowly run into an ice-cold solution of 41 parts of as-m-xylenol (2 # 4-diethylphenol) and 35 parts of 40 ° B6 sodium hydroxide solution in about 600 parts of water to which 15 parts of soda has been added. The mixture is stirred at about 5 to 10 ° until the formation of the dye has ended, and then enough sodium chloride is added so that the dye separates out completely. The new dye sets after filtering off and drying. black-brown powder that easily dissolves in water with a yellow-brown color. The color of the solution changes to cherry red due to the addition of sodium hydroxide solution; Acetic acid changes it to reddish yellow. The dye has a light yellow-brown color on wool, which turns into a deep brown with a yellowish over-shine when it is re-chromed.
