Description
Process for dyeing chamois leather with sulfur and vat dyes Until recently, real dyeings on chamois leather could only be done with wood extracts, whose color gamut is limited, however. Except for the various Brown and gray tones could not be reasonably real coloring, very particularly with regard to soap fastness no great demands are made were allowed to be.
Lately attempts have repeatedly been made to make the soap resistant and to dye real sulfur dyes on leather. For dyeing sulfur and But vat dyes must be used so strong alkalis that a damaging Influence on the skin or leather fiber cannot be avoided.
The chamois leather dyed in this way with vat and sulfur dyes is so strong in terms of its characteristics such as grip and pull changed so that these dyeing methods could never become naturalized.
Furthermore, methods have become known in which to attenuate the destructive influence of alkalis protective colloids (glucose, glue, gelatine, Soaps) or other substances with a similar effect, e.g. glycerine, formaldehyde, sulphate cellulose, can be used, with the formaldehyde due to its hardening properties was of particular importance. Even with these methods, however, the Chamois leather dyed with sulfur and vat dyes has its above-mentioned properties not received.
It has now been shown that if you take chamois leather before dyeing with vat or sulfur dyes with suitable inorganic oxidizing agents, such as B. hydrogen peroxide, perborates or halogens, or with organic Oxidizing agents, such as. B. acyl chloramides and similarly acting organic compounds, treated, the dyeing process is so rapid that a damaging effect of the Alkalis cannot penetrate the fiber. In this way, genuine and Level dyeing is achieved, while the handle and draw of the chamois leather are retained. The sodium sulphide, which is necessary for dyeing with sulphurous substances, becomes apparent partially oxidized on the fiber and fixed the dye. It's not necessary, that air is supplied to fix the dye. For fuller development the dyeing it can be useful to wash the dyed goods through an oxidation bath, z. B. bichromate or other acidic or neutral metal salt solutions with oxidizing Properties, further z. B. to pull through acidified nitrite solutions. That Process in chamois leather dyeing is undoubtedly a technical one Progress.
B e ,i -s p# i e 1 'z i oo g Sämischleder werden gut ausgewaschen, nötigenfalls mit Hilfe von etwas Alkali oder Seife. Hierauf walkt man sie in einer Lösung von 5 g Perborat auf 3 1 während einer Stunde, worauf ausgequetscht und kurz gespült werden kann.B e, i -s p # i e 1 'z i oo g Chamois leather are washed out well, if necessary with the help of a little alkali or soap. Then one rolls them in one Solution of 5 g perborate to 3 l for one hour, whereupon squeezed out and briefly can be rinsed.
The leather is then dissolved in a solution of 6 g of thional green GK (sulfur dye made from the sulfonic acid obtainable by treating q.-alkylaminonaphthyl- ['-oxyphenylamine with bisulfate) in the required amount of sodium sulfate and dyed in a closed dyeing drum. After 20 to 30 minutes, the depth of color no longer increases, and at the same time the dye liquor is exhausted, whereupon the leather is squeezed out and pulled through a solution of 2 g of bichromate and 5 g of concentrated acetic acid per liter for post-oxidation. This is followed by a good rinse and soap.
To deepen the nuance, the operation of dyeing and Nachoxy can be used dierens to be repeated several times.
Examples 100 g chamois leather are cleaned in 3 liters of water treated with 25 cc of clear chlorinated lime solution of 8 ° Be, `before the chlorine reaction disappears from the solution fairly quickly; at the same time there is no smell either to perceive more. The leather can then be hurled and immediately put into the dye bath be brought (6 g thionalindone blue R [blue sulfur dye from 4-amino-3-methyl-4 .'-oxydiphenylamine] with 6 g of anhydrous sodium sulphide). After the liquor is exhausted, it is squeezed out or centrifuged and, as indicated under Example i, post-oxidized with bichromate.
Nach einer zweiten Fixierung mit Bichromat kann ausgewaschen und geseift werden.EXAMPLE 3 100 g chamois after thorough cleaning in 3 liters of prasser are treated with -> g p-toluene-stilfonehloramidnatrium, whereby the release of chlorine can be precisely regulated by slowly adding dilute or weak acids. After sufficient treatment with 2 g acetic acid, the leather is squeezed, rinsed briefly with 1 5 g Thionaltiefschwarz D conc. (Black sulfur dye from 2, 4. - Dinitrophenol) -E- 18 g of concentrated sodium sulphide (anhydrous) colored: after 30 minutes the depth of color no longer increases, whereupon the post-oxidation with bichromate and acetic acid is carried out according to Example i. This is followed by a short rinse and again over-dyeing in the same dye bath. After a second fixation with dichromate, it can be washed out and soaped.
