Description

Process for the compensation of the used for the viscose process, in the electrolytic Mercury processes produced caustic soda when using chemically pure Sodium hydroxide for the production of viscose silk occurs during filtration and in the spinning process substantial difficulties in ordering filters and spinnerets Blockages are subject to microscopic aggregates which are outwardly normal Viscose cannot be distinguished. This phenomenon occurs, for example when using a caustic soda that is produced according to the electrolytic mercury process is produced, or a lye, which by means of the mercury process from pressed lye the viscose production has been regenerated. Initially it was assumed that these phenomena are due to unknown specific changes chemical or physical nature that the alkali during the electrolytic Mercury process should have learned about. But the analytical Investigation of the alkalis gave no further clues. In contrast, it has been shown that the mentioned table can be avoided if one of the specified Kind of caustic soda added certain substances that were previously considered impurities has viewed. Compounds of potassium, sodium, Iron and manganese. It has been shown that in certain cases individual of the compounds mentioned, in other cases mixtures of several of them (their Composition may change depending on the circumstances) produce the desired effect.

The amount of additives need only be very small in each case; with iron and manganese it may only reach a few thousandths of the amount of caustic soda, while the addition of potassium and sodium compounds one hundredth of the caustic soda may exceed.

Pure caustic soda has the advantage of giving a lighter product as commercial caustic soda; but by empirical dosing of the additives can the optimum in terms of the color of the viscose on the one hand and the quality of the spun product on the other hand easy to reach.

The admixture can take place in various ways. Best happens by introducing a solution that is appropriately composed for the respective case the selected ingredients in a certain amount of the lye to be treated. Man but can also ides the desired texture through suitable composition Electrolytes during the production of the lye or by mixing the one to be remunerated Achieve lye with a (usually larger) amount of such lye, which the desired Contains substances in a suitable quantity.
