Description
Process for the production of potassium magnesium carbonate (Engelschem Salt) under pressure In the patent 5o1 178 is a process for the production of Engelschem Salt described, according to which the partial pressure of the carbonic acid in the reaction is considerable compared to what one used to work with up to now. Through this is not only achieved that one instead of using pure potassium salts with crude salts or Sodium chlorine-containing lengths can work, but also that you can do that by then the temperature limit of 2o ° that is always maintained: when increasing the Partial pressure of carbonic acid to 5 atmospheres can namely the temperature without Damage can be increased to 25 ° and higher, which has the significant advantage that the heat otherwise required for the purpose of continuing the heat generated in the reaction Cooling can be omitted.
The observation has now been made that among those in the main patent specified conditions the reaction can be accelerated that one by vigorous stirring causes an intensive mixing of the carbon dioxide.
The inventor of Engel's salt has in his German patent 15 218 from the year 1881 stated that one in the production of the double salt can stir, whereby very small crystals form. About the elimination of Engelschen Avoiding salt in this fine form, which is unsuitable for further processing, one has to stir the reaction mixture with the method of manufacture customary up to now just avoided. Surprisingly, however, it separates at high partial pressures the carbon dioxide and temperatures that are considerably above 20 °, but not 50 ° should exceed, the Engel's salt with intensive stirring in coarsely crystalline, suitable form for further processing.
This achieves a considerable advantage as the implementation and deposition of the salt, which takes about 12 hours in the previous process Took in a much shorter time, e.g. B. at temperatures of 45 'and a Carbonic acid partial pressure of 18 atmospheres using sylvinite as Potash salt in two hours, can be completed. For intensive mixing The carbon dioxide must be ensured by suitable stirring devices. Is working one at lower Temperatures, the partial pressure of the Be less carbonated.
