Nach der Erfindung ist ein Hängerost mit einem Flachrost, und zwar vorteilhaft mit einem Rollenrost vereinigt. Für Holz- und Brikettfeuerung genügt es, wenn der Hängerost mit einer dahinterliegenden einfachen Feuerungsplatte verbunden ist. Für Steinkohlenfeuerung dagegen ist ein Stabrost hinter dem Hängerost erforderlich. Erfindungsgemäß wird einem Flachrost ein Hängerost vorgebaut, der aus einer schräg nach vorn geneigten Platte zwischen dem Flachrost und einer mit Luftschlitzen versehenen, senkrecht stehenden Rostvorderwand besteht. Dabei ist die Hängerostplatte ganz oder teilweise nach unten gegen ein Gegengewicht aufklappbar. Erfindungsgemäß wird weiterhin der Flachrost als Stabrost ausgebildet, über welchem ein aus drehbaren und in senkrechter Richtung verschiebbaren Rollen bestehender Rost derart angebracht ist, daß die Rollen die Schlitze des unteren Rostes decken und durch seitliches Verschieben des unteren Rostes die Schlitze mehr oder weniger freigeben.
