Abstract
Locomotive engine (30) comprises a frame (34), two multi-axle trucks (35) arranged a distance apart and attached to the frame, a transmission, a drive motor (40) fixed above one of the trucks on the frame, a driver's cabin consisting of two cabs (31) arranged on the left and the right side of the body of the locomotive engine, and a hydraulic arrangement for moving the cabs upward and downward. When the cabs are lowered, the locomotive engine has an overall height of less than 2.55 m. Preferred Features: The drive motor is a diesel engine. When the cabs are lowered, the locomotive engine has a height of 2.32 m.
