Description
Method of obtaining vitamins from fats The most vitamin-rich Fats all have a more or less pronounced unpleasant smell and taste, what for their application in therapy and. a hindrance to the food industry is.
The present invention has the purpose of avoiding these disadvantages by d: ate the vitamins either immediately in a fat type without the aforementioned disadvantageous Properties are transferred or obtained in the form of a concentrate, .that possibly before the yellow smoke with neutral-tasting fats or other substances can be diluted without an adverse taste or odor.
A well-known method of obtaining vitamins, from vitamin-rich Fats consists of first converting the fat into fatty acid caleium, from which then the vitamins are separated by means of alcohol. The alcoholic solution is then purified, and the alcohol is distilled off, whereupon the vitamins are in Absorbs ether, benzene or other volatile solvents, leaving behind of glycerin. and other substances insoluble in the volatile solvent. Since the saponification of fats by means of calcium hydroxide is incomplete and difficult feasible, it has also been suggested to use the lime soap by way of a detour to make the alkali soaps. Compared to this known method, it stands out the present invention in that after saponification of the fat the soaps first split into free fatty acids and the latter separated. From the back The vitamins are then removed using a suitable solvent moved out.
This way of working can make lime soap Associated difficulties and losses can be avoided by making the necessary Saponification by means of caustic alkali is carried out without subsequent conversion into Lime soaps. At the same time the annoying emulsion-forming effect of the alkali soaps at d - r avoiding extraction of vitamins.
The method is expediently carried out in such a way that the vitamin-rich Fat, e.g. B. Fi, sch: liver oil, with aqueous or alcoholic sodium or potassium hydroxide solution, preferably with the exclusion of air and light, is saponified, whereupon the soap mass with an acid, e.g. B. hydrochloric acid, added. The resulting free fatty acids are then separated. This can be avoided without difficulty that significant amounts of vitamin are taken away from the fatty acids. After the full Removal of the fatty acids, the lower liquor is either with a fat solution, remedies, z. B. gasoline, or with a type of fat or with a mixture of both substances extracted, whereby the largest part of the vitamin content of the lower liquor in the extractant transforms. If a fat solvent is used, this will be useful afterwards removed by distillation in a low-oxygen atmosphere.
'Example 10 kg of fish liver oil become more indifferent when heated Atmosphere with 2.5 kg caustic potash dissolved in 2o 1 water, saponified. The warming to be continued until a chemical control sample shows that: the digestion is complete is. Then it is cooled to about 30 ° C, whereupon one of the potash used equivalent amount of hydrochloric acid is added. The hydrochloric acid gets with the soap solution mixed by stirring as briefly as possible, after which the whole thing is left to itself will. The fatty acids then accumulate to form an upper layer. The lower, watery one Layer is drawn off and then with 5 kg kotton oil for two hours vigorously Stirring together extracted in an oxygen-free atmosphere. After sitting down can the 01 floating above is secreted and, if necessary, filtered. This If light and air (oxygen have not been admitted) contains a large Part of the vitamin content of the starting material and .is essentially from the unfavorable Freed the taste properties of fish liver oil.
