RICHARD FALK in BERLIN. Herstellung decorirter Metallfiächen.RICHARD FALK in BERLIN. Production of decorated metal surfaces.
Patentirt im Deutschen Reiche vom 15. Mai 1878 ab.Patented in the German Empire on May 15, 1878.
The drawing is made with fat paint, a mixture. of sebum, wax and a dye, applied to the object to be decorated. This can be done by hand or im Ways of transfer printing.
. *If this drawing is to appear in bare metal on a dark background, I turn to this immediately start the etching process described below. . *
■..)'. ■>;, If, however, the drawing is to come out in color on bare metal, I proceed as follows: I place the object in a bath which contains a solution of chlorine silver or chlorine platinum and let the liquid act on it until the free areas are covered with a precipitate above solution show covered. As a rule, this takes half an hour and applies to; Copper and brass. But if the object is made of zinc or steel, it must have been copper-plated in a cyankalic or ammoniacal copper solution before this operation. ■ ..) '. ■>;,
As soon as the original metal with is covered by a precipitate of silver or platinum, the object is removed from the adhering to it Paint cleaned and placed in a bath containing the solution of a corrosive and containing coloring metal salt. For this purpose I use for zinc: iron or antimony chloride; for copper and brass: ferric chloride or copper chloride, the latter with an additive of hydrochloric acid; for steel | Copper chloride. For Drawings to be produced blank in copper and brass, plus iron nitric acid and copper nitric acid.
After a period of a quarter to an hour (depending on the ^ metal) an etching and coloring of all those parts of the metal which are not the protective paint in making a bare drawing and not the protective silver or platinum layer during manufacture a colored drawing. Now a black appears on zinc, a redish one on copper, a greenish coloration on brass and a gray color on steel. The object stained in this way is rinsed off, wiped off well with a cloth and dried and now with With the exception of the zinc that has already been etched black, exposed to sunlight.
. ·The light now evokes the initially dull tone properly and so intensely that it does it is transformed into a completely dark, blackish color and also attached. In good light, this change takes half an hour. Well be the objects containing the blank drawing by means of one dipped in turpentine oil The lobule is cleaned of the paint still on it, thereby removing the metal shining, while in the other case they are made of fine emery Their silver or platinum skin can be freed again, making their surface 'in its original state The color of your metal also appears shiny again. . ·
