Jahrhundert Arsenik als Naßbeize zur Bekämpfung der Brandkrankheiten des Saatgutes verwandt, doch ließ man diese Beizbehandlung später als minderwertig fallen. Auch wasserunlösliche Kupferverbindungen sind als Kupferkarbonat bereits als Trockenbeizmittel verwandt worden, doch hat dieses Beizmittel bei in Deutschland durchgeführten Versuchen mehr oder weniger versagt (vgl. M o 1 z, Deutsche Landw. Presse, 1921, Nr. 74, S. 553). Aber auch in Amerika war die Wirkung des Kupferkarbonates nur dann zufriedenstellend, wenn der Weizen nicht sehr brandig war (siehe M a c k i e and B r i g g s, Bull. 364, Berkeley, California, May 1923, S. 568).
