Liquid-tight stave connection for curved and flat walls
Vessels Vessels made of wood, the floors and walls of which are made from individual staves
and which, due to the swelling capacity of the wood, seal themselves in a liquid-tight manner,
are known. These known embodiments have the major disadvantage that the
individual wooden staves shrink as they dry up and the vessels leak
will. An attempt was made to remedy this by removing the individual staves
provided with tongue and groove. This type of construction is also only a makeshift, insofar as
when the leaks in the vessels are reduced, but not eliminated. from
a gas tightness, even only to a small percentage, is in these types
no speech at all.
The present invention as characterized in the claims is eliminated
the indicated deficiencies insofar as not only unified complete watertightness,
but also a sufficient gas tightness of the stave connections is achieved
will.
Abb. i zeigt.eine derartige Verbindung für krummwandige Gefäße, Abb.
a für ebenwandige.Fig. I shows such a connection for crooked vessels, Fig.
a for flat walls.
The staves a are according to Fig. I and z with tongue and groove as well as with a
special milling provided, which on the one hand to accommodate a sealing compound
c and on the other hand to accommodate a locking bar b is used. For pressing the locking bar
b or to compress the seal; mass c. how finally to cohesion
The Daubenla are used clamping rings, straps and the like in a known design. at
the subject of the invention, the liquid in shrunk wood under certain circumstances
can get past the tongue and groove, but it will in no way become the ° seal
c. to penetrate or be able to bypass. A liquid seal is thus
achieved in any case. If gas-tightness is to be achieved, this is also necessary
Purpose then completely achieved, if especially to the staves and end strips
dry and precisely worked wood is used.
The stave connection shown in Fig. 3 is intended for flat-walled vessels and differs from the one shown in Fig. I in that the end strip is not cut at right angles, but the inner side of the end strip is made wider than the outer side. The need for this cross-sectional shape results from see. from the fact that, in contrast to the curved-walled vessel, the pressing @ of the end strip b on the staves a can only be imperfect due to the applied straps and with angled end strips a compression of the sealing compound e would not be guaranteed with certainty. This deficiency is completely eliminated by the shape of the end b according to Fig. Z in that. the dovetail shape of the cross-section of the end strips makes it impossible for them to emerge to the outside. The triangular shape of the., Cross-section of the cutout for the sealing compound gives the sealing surface the smallest possible extent.
