PATENTANSPRUCH: Abänderung des durch das Patent 3961I5 geschützten Verfahrens zur Darstellung von Methan aus Wassergas und ähnlichen Gasgemischen, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß man zwecks katalytischer Darstellung von Methylalkohol und anderen sauerstoffhaltigen organischen Verbindungen unter erhöhtem Druck die Wasserstoff und Kohlenoxyd enthaltenden Gasgemische vor der Einführung in den Reaktionsraum mit Wasserdampf in Gegenwart eines Katalysators behandelt und nach Entfernung des entstandenen Schwefelwasserstoffs der für die Darstellung von Methylalkohol und anderen sauerstoffhaltigen organischen Verbindungen üblichen Behandlung mit Katalysatoren unter Druck unterwirft.
