Description
Nimmt man z. Process for the production of shaped bodies from iron It is known Manufacture moldings from iron by the fact that the iron is oxidically precipitated from solutions, the precipitate is washed out, reduced and then pressed into molds. Particularly The process is simple and cheap if one can think of any iron Origin, e.g. B. of scrap, which can be used as an anode in any form Brings and dissolves electrolytes. It is best to proceed in such a way that the dissolved Iron is continuously re-precipitated from the electrolyte. For this it is enough if one chooses the electrolvte appropriately. If you take z. B. an alkali salt, such as table salt or sodium sulfate, in approximately half-saturated solution, then for example separates at a current density of about 2 to 5 amps per square centimeter, directly oxidic iron away. The precipitation varies according to the electrolyte used and according to the temperature. When the saline solution is cold, the main thing is that iron oxydulhy occurs Roast; in the case of cold Suffat solution, the main result is iron oxide hydrate. the end In hot solutions it is mainly the oxide or the oxide that precipitates. The precipitation is washed out well, for example until there is no chlorine or sulfuric acid reaction more enters, then dried and reduced.
The most suitable is the reduction in a hydrogen stream. But it has to it must be ensured that the temperature is not too low, otherwise the iron in the air = re-oxidized. If you work above 700 °, it is best to work at about 85o °, so you get a very useful, extremely tough and very plastic iron that can be easily pressed into shapes. You can, instead of using hydrogen to reduce, also use other reducing agents, e.g. B. containing hydrogen Gases or gas mixtures. However, depending on the choice of such reducing agent, you get more or less contaminated iron. The product obtained with hydrogen is of extraordinary purity and resilience.
The method can therefore also be used to produce less pure Iron, e.g. B. cast iron or pig iron of another type or scrap, towards pure iron to process.
