Description
B. bei der Fixage den Strom zur Ausscheidung des komplex gelösten Silbers, bei der Wässerung einerseits ebenfalls zur Süberabscheidung, anderseits zum Unschädlichmachen von die Haltbarkeit der Bilder gefährdenden Chemikalien (Oxydation von Thiosulfat zu Sulfat).Process for fixing and soaking photographic materials under Application of Electrolytic Processes It has been found that in particular accelerates the processes of fixing and washing photographic materials if the bath liquid is electrolytic during these operations Subject to decomposition. This process is to be adapted accordingly to the work concerned; so one uses z. B. in the fixation the current to the excretion of the complex solved Silver, on the one hand, also for sludge separation, on the other hand to render the durability of the pictures harmless chemicals (oxidation from thiosulfate to sulfate).
It is known of spent fixers that have a considerable Have silver content to recover the silver with the help of the electric current. The one described here differs from this process in that electrolysis is used during fixation or watering.
An electrolysis during the fixation in the sense of the new process causes the concentration of silver ions in the bath liquid to be so low as possible-is kept, creating the most favorable implementation conditions between Sodium thiosulfate and silver halide can be achieved for reasons of chemical kinetics.
During the electrodeposition of silver from the fixer Requires about -r volts of voltage, can be photographic in the case of washing Material of any high voltage (up to about 22o volts direct or alternating current) Find use; for in the latter case the main emphasis is not on j a a deposition of the still trace amounts of silver, but rather on a destruction of the Fixierbadreste z. B. by oxidation or reduction.
Solid or finely divided metallic or other conductors can be used as the electrode material, depending on the desired purpose. The use of finely divided electrode materials can be done in terms of the patent 301585.
The devices that are to be used for watering or fixing the images, are provided with the electrodes in an appropriate manner. In principle, can one might distinguish two embodiments. One is the photographic material to be fixed or watered between the electrodes (see fig. i and 2), bci'the others are the ' ylectrodes in one place the liquid container (Fig. 3), on which there is no photographic material, or even outside the actual reaction vessel in a special container (Fig.q.) Attached.
In the latter case must then by means of suitable devices for a Sufficiently intensive flow of the liquid content through the secondary vessel Sorge be worn.
Some different forms of application are shown in Figs. I to q. illustrated. The basic principle here is a rotating drum in which z. B. the photographic Deductions are assumed.
In a trough a, a hollow drum b moves with the to be watered or images to be fixed.
On the side walls of the drum b, as shown in Fig. I, the connections be made. In Fig. 2, the axis a of the drum b is the anode, the drum shell connected as cathode. In Fig. 3, the trough a is as the anode and the drum b as Cathode formed. Fig. Q: shows an arrangement, - as a result of which the electrolysis is outside the trough and drum are carried out in a special secondary vessel f.
The electrode material depends entirely on the desired electrolysis effect.
