Das durch die Zeichnung, Fig. 1, im Schnitt dargestellte Ventil dient zur Verminderung des Druckes, welcher durch Wasser, . Dadurch wird der ursprüngliche Druck der Flüssigkeit auf die Leitung vor dem Apparate beschränkt, dagegen der Druck hinter dem Apparate bedeutend vermindert. Der Druck der Flüssigkeit vor dem Apparate verhält sich nämlich zu dem Drucke hinter demselben, wie die gedrückte Fläche der Gummiplatte F zu der Schlufsfläche des Ventils B. Der von der Leitungsflüssigkeit abgeschlossene Luftraum h gestattet eine freie Bewegung der Gummiplatte, da durch die Luftkanäle /die nothwendige, sowie auch die überflüssige Luft strömen kann.
