HERMANN GOODSON in BERLIN. Selbsttätiges Druckverininderungs-Veiitil.HERMANN GOODSON in BERLIN. Automatic pressure reducing valve.

Patentirt im Deutschen Reiche vom ii. September 1878 ab.Patented in the German Empire from ii. September 1878.

The valve shown in section by the drawing, Fig. 1, is used to reduce the Pressure caused by water,. Creates steam or gas in pipelines.

If the valve is switched on in a line, the flowing liquid first passes through the lower valve B, drives it and its guide rod through the stuffing box c upwards, flows through the lower and upper openings d and e and then enters the other Pipeline. When the flow of the liquid ceases, it causes the valve to close by pressing on the rubber plate F, the pressure surface of which is significantly larger than that of the valve 6. As a result, the original pressure of the liquid is limited to the line in front of the apparatus, while the pressure behind the apparatus is significantly reduced. The pressure of the liquid in front of the apparatus is related to the pressure behind it, as the pressed surface of the rubber plate F is related to the closing surface of the valve B. The air space h , which is closed off by the line liquid, allows free movement of the rubber plate, since through the air ducts / the Necessary as well as the superfluous air can flow. Any line fluid that has penetrated into the air space can also flow away through the channels /.

Fig. 2 zeigt diese Anordnung. The apparatus shown in the drawing is preferably intended for water pipes. For steam lines, a suitable metal washer must be used in place of the sensitive rubber plate, as they occur in various steam pressure gauges. Fig. 2 shows this arrangement.
