Description

Process for the production of encapsulated electrical capacitors with sulfur-soaked insulating material There are already manufacturing processes for electrical Capacitors known, which consist in that the insulating material with one from Sulfur existing impregnation mass is treated, and that after cooling of the impregnation mass the capacitor is encapsulated with another insulating material. With these capacitors can, however, easily when the sulfur solidifies due to its strong shrinkage Cavities arise in the dielectric, which then immediately fill with air. To this one To avoid inconvenience, the capacitors according to the invention are immediately after their soaking with sulfur, so as long as this is still liquid, still with one Insulating material with a lower melting point than that of the sulfur impregnated. The second soaking is expediently done by immersing the capacitor in the liquidized insulating material. When the sulfur solidifies, only the can second insulating material is sucked into the cavities forming in the capacitor, but no air.

As an insulating material for re-soaking the dielectric is z. B. montan wax, the melting point of which is between 70 and 80 ° C. The capacitors after-treated with this substance have the high dielectric strength of the capacitors only impregnated with montan wax, but without showing their disadvantage. This disadvantage is that the montan wax flows out of the condenser when it is heated above its melting point, so that the condensers only soaked with montan wax are very sensitive to heat. However, if montan wax is only used to fill the cavities that arise in the sulfur-soaked condenser when it cools, the condenser remains usable up to the melting point of the sulfur, because the montan wax, which becomes liquid when the condenser is heated, cannot flow out because it is held in place by capillary action.
